Life as I Know It; Family; Lifestyle; and Healthy Living!
and the results of my blood works

I went for my follow up visit today with my doctor's fill in, who I thought was a P.A. but she's not, she's a full fledged M.D.! She's rather lovely too and easy to talk with and explains everything to me which is wonderful! I just might switch my Primary!

Anyway, my blood pressure was not something to freak out about when the nurse took it before I saw the doc, in fact, it's the other way around this time. Last week I was 140/80, where-in my Systolic was higher than the Diastolic, this time I'm 124/84. I went on line to search for a chart like the one I saw in her office and found this one online at Exercise-Reports.com. It explains what blood pressure in adults should be.

The doc's chart had 140/80 (meaning the systolic should be 140 or less) as the borderline for normal, yet this one has it at 120/80, I have no clue as to which one is correct. But I'm going to go by what my doctor's chart says, I'm not sure if this Exercise.com chart is up to date.

It would seem that I'm in the pre-hypertension state. I should have asked more question about that but I was too concerned about my blood work results!

The good news is my blood works, after fasting for more than 12 hours, is quite normal! Even my Iron level is back to normal. The super good news is that my Cholesterol is 129 - HDL is 62 and LDL is 62! And I don't have Diabetes! My diet is not outrageous, I have a sweet tooth which I keep in moderation, but as you know I'm 50 lbs overweight and am working on it but I was concerned about having Diabetes since my sister told me she had it.

I haven't had the chance to work out this week at all, except on Wednesday evening I danced to a copy of a CD a friend made for me of the music from this season's So You Think You Can Dance show, which we are both big fans of! This season's music was rocking! School started for my two younger kids and it has been pretty hectic for me. I told my hubby that we have to regroup so that I can get my workout time in because that keeps me sane and healthy!

The only concern is that my heart is still doing that fluttering thing. I do notice however that it happens whenever I get stressed, i.e., I worry about something. I had a moment last night when it went on for longer than I liked and I had to stop for a moment to breathe. So because of this I am going to be fitted with a Holter Monitor for 24 hours to see what's going on there. Hopefully it's just me stressing out and nothing else. I get fitted with this on Monday. Although I don't know what sense that makes since I don't have this incidence as often, and last night was the first time I reacted like that.

Anyone reading this might think I don't handle stress well and I'm really the opposite. I'm a rock when it comes to most things, work-related or otherwise, I take control and I handle whatever the situation is. But there are moments when my thoughts go to my kids, or my family members, who I was worrying about because of their recent situation, so things like that will stress me out.

At any rate, I'll do as the doc ordered and wear the monitor when I get fitted for it and see what happens. In the meantime, I'll try to do more relaxing things. It is a big relief though about my blood results!
