Body in Progress

It hasn't been a bad week. In fact the week didn't begin to good for me where exercise is concerned. I was feeling really cruddy on Monday. Between my allergies (which seems to have begun early this season) and my body, there seemed to have been a conspiracy a foot. I didn't work out at the beginning of the week, Monday or Tuesday, and I decided not to beat myself up over it! OK, I did, just a little! Until I literally told myself to stop! What, don't you talk to yourself too?

It was a rough start to my work out program, however, the good news is I got better! I did continue to eat right.....although I cheated with two scoops of rice just because I was having curried chicken for dinner! How can I not eat rice with my curry?! You scoop the gravy (that I've denied myself all these weeks) over the rice, and sink into food heaven!lol!

I allow myself to have curry because I (or hubby) cook curried chicken, no oil, and with carrots and herbs, and sometimes he makes it very spicy! I have it with vegetables and it's really delicious that way too. So instead of a large serving of rice, which used to be the way I eat it, I ate a scoop, or two and veges!

I did work out on Wednesday, I got up and did my thirty-minute work out, it felt good once I started! When I don't work out in the mornings, the problem is when I get home after work, I'm usually feeling like a deflated balloon, I don't want to do anything! My time is not my own then too. Everyone needs my ears, so I listen and I cook if I have to, then the kids go outside to play (or their friends come in to play) while I eat and just thaw out! Then it's home work and bath time and bed time story and bed for my six year old! Most of the times, I'm literally sleeping then too! So who has the time to exercise?!

That's why I devised a way to make sure that I do get some work out! If I have to cook, I do my stretches and jump on the Performance machine while I'm cooking. If I'm watching a favourite TV program, I jump on the machine during commercial breaks, and when the program continues I use the hand weights (dumbells) so as to get my weights work out done at that time! By the end of the program, I've either worked out for 30 - forty five minutes, depending on what I was watching!

If I don't have to cook, while the kids are outside playing, I work out. That way I get my exercise in, and am feeling much better to handle them when they get back inside. You can't beat that plan right?! That's what I've done up to today, for three days and I feel great!

I'll do some work out tomorrow and rest up on Sunday. That will mean I've worked out for four days this week, still on target, given my plan is to work out four to five times per week.

What you have to do is to be flexible and not lock yourself into a rigid schedule or you will be setting yourself up to fail and probably give up on getting fit in the long run. Working out with even twenty minutes of physical activities is a good thing, so don't give up and keep on trying!
