Life as I Know It; Family; Lifestyle; and Healthy Living!

I read this article today on MSN's MoneyCentral.msn.com.  The one thing that ran through my mind ad I read it was, are they suggesting that America's problems is because of fat people?   So maybe I'm being a bit sensitive.  After all, I fall into the category of the 66% overweight people.  I admit it and there is no shame in it!  I'm actively working on that situation I'm even prouder to say!

According to Shirley Skeel, the author of the piece I read, if there were no fat people in America we would save billions of dollars on health care, gas, airlines and diseases such as diabetes would be non-existent!  I have to agree with her on that reasoning!

She suggested that the one thing that would happen if there were no fat people in America is there would be a lot of doctors out in the street, looking for work!  They would be...really?  That would probably go for pharmacists and anyone in the healthcare industry I guess.  Unless of course they came up with reasons for us needing them, like say, all the wave of health-craze stuff going on now!  I'm sure they would be gainfully employed!

Not only that, but the fast food chains would have to offer more healthier variety of foods (this we agreed on!), as they are forced to now, because we are getting more health conscious and focusing on our bodies!  So you see Ms. Skeel, all the fast food chains would definitely be better off in the long run and knowing our appetites, business would be booming for them anyway!

Overall I'm in total agreement with the article.  The many people who usually would be spending a lot of money on medications and other necessities because of being fat and in not so good health, they would reap the rewards of monies they would be spending on themselves for much more indulgent reasons!  I guess that's our cue to get with the "slim is in" program America!  I prefer to look at it as "Fit is in"!

Here's a different spin I've thought on your question, Donna: what if everyone was honest and really loved one another? Think of the possibilities! No armies or navies or bombs or armaments or cops or prisons or locks or security cameras or bank vaults! Imagine what the money spent on these things could be done as far as curing cancer and hunger and all the other problems of the world? Yeah... imagine! WWW Link

Oh yes, this would be the ultimate world to be in! I've often thought of the 'what ifs..?' and the perfect song "Imagine", makes us all wonder if this can be!

I don't think the doctors would be out of business - there's always some crazy disease they'll need to look for.

I reckon a world without fat would be great, especially if it meant that everyone was buff and never got old too in that fashionable brave new world style. Just eye candy as far as the eye can see. It'd be great.

Feeders probably wouldn't be happy, but there's not a lot we can do about that. The health benefits would justify the death of a minor sexual fetish!

Hahahaha....

The only thing would be since we would ALL be healthier and living longer lives, people might have to get bumped off just to allow for under population!

It would be nice if all of us were leading healthier lives. I'm with Cacto I think doctors would move on to something else.

I like Roy's answer too, though I don't need people to go that far. I'll be happy with this thought, What if no one was stupid?

I'm talking more about common sense. I think the world would be alot better place if more people had it.

We'd have to kill a lot of babies. I, for one, am on board, though. I never liked babies anyway.
