I'm watching the Discovery Health Body Challenge and one of the ladies who is participating in the program, made a comment that made me say, "Oh stop it!".  She said that one of her dreams is to surf, even though black people don't surf, this black girl wants to surf!  First off, more power to her, No. 1, she's getting herself healthy by doing the body challenge!  Secondly, she wants to do an activity as a goal, not just go buy something!  She does do what I've heard m...

I'm two days early, or is that three?!  Who's counting....my kids are!lol! But no, I've not been writing much lately. It's been really busy and I wanted to let you know that I'm still around, just busy and distracted with the season and other stuff.  Despite the economical stresses, and al lthat is going on in the world today, I'm happy to see that there are still some people who are happy to be around today!  I'm also glad that so many people will celebrate the holidays eve...

Am I too fat?   Am I too thin?   Do I look pretty?   How is my hair?    We are always questionable as to our looks, the way we look to others and ourselves.   We want to look the way how beauty is defined to us on television, at the movies and especially in magazines!   Unfortunately, while their definition of beauty might be good for those who enjoy it, or those who actually look that way, it doesn’t do any good for those of us who cannot li...

"It will be a stirring sight to watch President Obama, his wife Michelle and their beautiful girls step through the doors of the White House," George Bush said [article linked above] Good on you President Bush, like John McCain, you are both very gracious in calling for the unity of our country!

After picking up my son from school, I told him I was going to stop at the library because his sister has books that are due today, and we both have DVDs to return as well.  We ran inside of the library after finding parking, which took a few minutes longer than usual, apparently because of voter registration, and it being the last day in our state for voting registration, so many people were trying to get registered before 10pm tonight. Anyway, my son said, "Who borrows books anymore...

I have lived in a gated apartment community, for quite a while now. We have gotten to know some of our neighbors over the years.  Some are really nice and some are not so nice!  Those not so nice ones we stay away from.  There are some that are users, meaning they are more interested in what they can get from you, rather than the friendship; and there are some that are the "Hi, how are you, nice weather" type; as well as those that you don't mind doing a favor for,...

It's embedded in our memories a day that will never be forgotten let us continue to pray for this great nation of ours our politics might devide us but our loyalty shall always unite us!   In memory of that fateful day, I add a link to a poem I wrote last year.

I just finished watching the movie P.S. I Love you .  It was the most beautiful, beyootiful movie I've seen in a while!  It will be one of my favs!   Have you seen it?  If not, please watch it.  It is sad, but it is so beyootiful!  My friends told me that I would cry, cause they did, even my guy friends, and they were so right!   I like that warm, beautiful feeling of being in love.  That warmth you feel with the knowledge that you are loved.&...

I wonder sometimes when did we get into such a state of environmental neglect?  So much so that our world has begun to show the effects of our neglect, or is it really the years of our growth?  Then I wonder, is this not a natural occurence though?  Because as humans progress in life, we learn to do everything better so as to have a simpler life, to make our lives better, for living, how can that be wrong?    What we have been doing and what we continue to do does ...

Remember that vehicle I mentioned in one of my blog?   The vehicle that we have been waitin gon from my BIL who was having it repaired at our expense because we were taking it off his hand?  Well, finally after upteenth false "yes it is ready"  We went to pick it up from him.    I started my day with being in the dentist's chair getting a deep root planing, no fun!  I felt like one of those movie stars while at the pharmacy because I had to have guaze in ...

I never knew I couldn't carve a straight line, until now!lol!  I suck at the Xacto!  We're putting together some binders for our annual plans.  The tabs were too large for the 2-inch binders we decided to use and we're trying to get around just trimming them down instead of wading through the computer files to shrink them and re-print. There I am cutting and trimming....and messing up!    Those things are sharp by the way!  So I gave in and decided to just re-do ...

CNN is repeating a special report it aired a month or so ago, Black in America.  It will take a close look on some of the issues that affect black Americans.   It will give an in depth look into the lives of some blacks who are doing the right thing, living their lives and who defy the stereo types of what being black in America is.   Someone said it is not just a story about blacks in this country it is a story about Americans, (who happen to be black), because wha...

Being prepared to do something means being successful.  Failure to prepare means you are not successful! I know you can't always be prepared for everything, every little details that happens in your life.  But for the ones that you can be prepared for, doing that prep work is always a good thing!
