My hubby and my little one were outside because he was trying to fix a minor problem with his car. It gets dark here early now, at 6pm it's night time.

My hubby came in and told me they were walking back together to come inside and suddenly he heard a swoosh and something flew in between him and went straight for our five year old. It was an Owl, a rather large one at that. Before he could do anything, it was going after her, she said she saw it coming it looked straight at her, moved it's head funny and when she ran in a zig zag fashion it flew away!

I'm still speechless!

I went outside to see if I could see this Owl since it was still in a tree outside. I caught a glimpse of it and it was a big one, then it flew away! It was actually waiting for her it seemed.

Apparently from the distance the Owl was at, my daughter being tiny seemed to have been food to it. OMG!!! It could have hurt her had it gotten the chance! I'm still speechless!

I hugged her and then I laughed because I can't imagine my daughter being seen as food to a bird! OMG!!! And to think I made her go outside by herself to go to her dad a few minutes before! She will not be allowed to go outside after dark anymore!

Talk about weird!!

I've seen hawks around here, big beautiful ones, and other wild animals and birds but this incident takes the cake! I shudder to think if it had gotten it's claw into her! OMG!!!

Well, glad I could help. If anything else tries to eat your daughter, just tell me and I'll help you figure out what it is.

Cool! On and that note, I bid you goodnight/morning seeing as it's practically 1am. I usually stay up to read but I'm beat!

Swoosh! Great word that. Even sounds like I bet it must feel. Ive heard all kinds of sounds including but not limited too bumps, bangs, squeals and bursts but not yet a "swoosh".

Looking forward to the experience though. Just hope it doesn't have big razor wire claws attached to it if and when it does happen thats all.

Swoosh! Excellent.

Glad to hear your daughter escaped injury.

Maybe the owl tried jerked pork or chicken before, and was now looking for anything Jamaican.

Swoosh!

Actually, owls are virtually silent when they fly...so as not to alert any would be food items.

Ok, I'd better stop before I get annoying, or is it too late already?...

Really? Maybe it was the wind sound of his wings, he was big! And you're never boring Zoo, it's all pretty interesting. We usually watch a lot of those programs on telly that features animals and such. My hubby especially.

Oh Zoo, update, I finally got a good look at the owl last night, unfortunately didn't run for my camera fast enough, it looked more like the Screeched owl and not the Barn Owl! It was a pretty good size too, and we're thinking (my hubby and I) that perhaps its a female and has a nest somewhere nearby. Even it may have been a pet because it didn't move as close as we were to it, as if it wasn't scared of human presence at all. It just sad on the fence post staring at us! My daughter ran for cover because she didn't like it!!
