Why wasn't he left in space?

If you're a Trekkie, hope I spelt that right, I'm obviously not one or I would know how to spell the word, you will know who Scotty is. Or at least if you were a big fan of the Star Trek series, like I was, you do know who was Chief Engineer, Montgomery Scott.

Actor James Doohan died in 2005 (it seems like only "yesterday"!) and some of his cremains were deposited into a tube and placed into a rocket, along with other people's cremains; I think the article said a total of about 200 cremains including Scotty's, were placed aboard the rocket, as well as several science projects from different schools, (that I didn't even know!) and sent off into space! I was amazed and excited when I heard the news of his cremains being sent off into space. I thought that was just so 'cool'! {although I thought it was all of his cremains!}

Something else I didn't know, the rocket that took the cremains upward was not one that was strong enough to go off into outer space, only enough to have it in sub-orbit, circling the Earth! So, it went up and then came down rather quickly! I don't think Scotty would have liked such a short stay and I also don't think he wanted to just circle the Earth!

Apparently to go all the way 'out there' you have to cough up a lot of money. What Doohan's wife paid was just for a $495 package which wasn't enough to go as far as the Earth's orbit! Ah well, you can't win them all Scotty!

The article said that more of Scotty's cremains will be sent up a second time. I wonder why bother though....if he can't get fully beamed up....it's definitely not worth it after all!

Too bad though, it was nice thinking that he was still out there somewhere discovering unknown regions and perhaps even finding somewhere habitable! I watch too much Sci-Fi stuff....yeah, I know!

That is sad for him. I hope his wife sends him back up and further this time.

He would have fixed that by cross circuiting to B!

Personally I feel that this 'service' is just another scam to bilk people out of their money.

I think that she shouldn't do it again.

what goes up must come down, spinning wheel gots to go round.

i do love irony like this.

I think he would have been better off just hurled into space somewhere....over the ocean or even his ashes buried at Cape Carneverale or somewhere fitting like that!

[breaks into song] "Talk about your trouble it's a crying shame...."
