That's Craig, Daniel Craig...say what?!
Published on October 12, 2005 By foreverserenity In Entertainment
Daniel Craig is the new James Bond, according to the British newspapers. Another shocker, he's blonde. The first blonde to be a 007. First of all I didn't even hear his name mentioned as being considered for the role of James Bond. I wrote about my favorite Bond in an article some time ago. The popular choice (by some JUsers) for the role from the four names that was being considered was Clive Owens. Here's a link to that article. Link

Here's an excerpt about Daniel Craig:
_______________________________

"Daniel Craig is 37 years old. He was named British actor of the year by the London Film Critics Circle in early 2005. Daniel Craig earnd this honour for his role in the movie Enduring Love.

A versatile performer, Craig was named British actor of the year by the London Film Critics Circle earlier this year for his role in the Ian McEwan thriller 'Enduring Love'.

In 2004, daniel Craig played a cocaine dealer in Matthew Vaughn's gangster thriller 'Layer Cake' and poet Ted Hughes, opposite Gwyneth Paltrow, in 'Sylvia'.

Daniel Craig was born Chester in 1968. Craig grew up in Liverpool and trained at London's National Youth Theatre and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Fellow students included Ewan McGregor and Joseph Fiennes.

It was a BBC BBC Two series called Our Friends in the North in 1996 that launched Daniel Craig's career. Elizabeth and The Trench earned him critical accalim.

In 2001, Daniel played ex-boyfriend to Angelina Jolie's Lara Croft in Tomb Raider. he also had a much applauded performance in Sam Mendes' Road to Perdition playing Paul Newman's psychotic son.

Daniel Craig's most recent noted film has been The Mother, in which Craig played the lover of his girlfriend's 64-year-old mother.

He has been offered a three film deal which will pay him 15 Million pounds. I do remember Daniel though, as Laura Croft's boyfriend. He was alright in that role and cute too. I don't know if I see him as James Bond yet, but I guess he'll have to prove himself won't he?

Will he (Craig) become the least favorite Bond like Timothy Dalton? Or will he become the best of the lot? Only time will tell.

The news irresponsibly reported that Craig will be the SIXTH Bond! He is NOT! He's the SEVENTH!

(David Niven, Casino Royale)

Try 8th.

Barry Nelson, TV version of Casino Royale. (Available on the Casino Royale movie DVD.)

They are correct in that the new bond will be the 6th cannonical Bond (i.e., in the official film series). The others are considered "unofficial."

Thanks for that bit of trivia, Gene. Now I can one up all but the BIGGEST Bond snobs (Hell, knowing David Niven puts me up there above MOST of 'em....lol).

But as for them being "technically correct", since Fleming WAS the screenwriter for "Casino Royale", I still think Niven (AND Nelson) should be included.

You figured me out udigit. I love hugh. He's adorable. One of my favorite fantasy men.

He's a good fantasy to have!

The name is blond, james blond.

Who mentioned that already? Good pun though!

I think I'll boycott this one on principle (OK, the nearest movie theater's 40 miles away, so boycotting it's not that hard, but if I say I'm boycotting it, it looks better on paper...lol)

Good luck with boycotting but be sure to get the dvd or video release....ok, ok, boycott, boycott...naw...I love the whole idea of James Bond so count me out!

Ye Gads you're good! I didn't even see that tidbit in the book. It probably was there too. It did mention that Cannon Ball Run, which Roger Moore also starred in was a kind of funny run off that somehow was linked to James Bond because of the character Moore played who was fanatical about James Bond.

Yep, they're all Flemings' characters after all.

I was hoping to see Ewan MacGregor get the part. With his accent, he's have been a Connery-esque bond.

I don't care for Daniel Craig much. I simply cannot envision him as Bond.

My favorite was Connery, least favorite was Lazenby.

Not to worry the Bond films they make now suck anyway.

All about the Bang and not about the story

Only time will tell I guess Dharma....but I know what you mean!

Connery.....that guy even at his age now is still fine!!! But he was the best Bond!

I disagree sushik. Admittedly they're not like the ones with Connery but they haven't been that bad to me. Quite entertaining and I enjoyed Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. He was really quite good, a second runner up to Connery!

Uhhh!

Pierce Brosnan was the worst bond ever, I like the guy but he was a terrible bond, he was Too polished for the role

There were multiple Bonds in "Casino Royale". If you want to include that stupid movie, there would be a lot more than 8.

For the sake of continuity, they should just dye the blonde guy's hair.

Of course hair oil would make it look darker too.

That would make him a greased Bond! I know bad joke, but it wasn't even a joke!LOL!

Sushik, we'll just agree to disagree about Brosnan...he was a great Bond! Plus his movies made tons of money too.
