[Inspired from an article written by Kathleen Parker, “It’s time to Retire Hitler”.]

I have noticed this happening a lot lately even before reading Ms. Parker’s article in my local paper.

Politicians are invoking the name of Hitler when they want to insult their opponents. His name is mentioned so much that you can Google it and receive quite a lot of responses! That’s how popular Hitler as become, even today.

Studying the rise and fall of Hitler is important because doing so will hopefully prevent another occurrence of someone like that (and there are many who want to be like him). However using the name as it’s being used right now should not be tolerated. Referring to him is not acceptable because he wasn’t a great leader who did good things. He wasn’t a hero, regardless of those out there who worship him.

Society should not be indifferent to his prior existence but his actions should not be held up as examples because he was an evil man!

His name, his cause, his actions should not be held up as examples as a metaphor for evil; making others look bad; comparing our President to him; comedians using him as a punch line…enough already!

Elie....you've got to make up your mind.....of course he was...annilihating so many people and if he had lived today......I won't even go there!

"If" that evil bugger lived today....As crippled as I am I would be looking for some way to put a round in his head from about 1200 yards out! I could "still" do the shot. But I seriously doubt that I'd get away afterwards.

Glad to be of service. I wasn't to awful worried about a court of law as much as I was about physically getting away from the scene with my life.

Uh, I think it was the right-wing flag-freaks who were abusing the Hitler analogy: "Saddam is another Hitler.....[etc.]".

It was only when the comparisons between Bush and Hitler were getting too close to home that Parker decided that such references were going out of style.

I think they're all terrorists: Bush, Hitler, Saddam. But Saddam didn't have WMDs, he was in a box, and he could have been kept contained without the terrible costs of Bush's invasion and elective war.

Comparing Saddam to Hitler is apt. Comparing Bush or Blair or Pope Benedict XVI is not.

And I want to point to my dictionary again; but won't.

Who was comparing the Pope to Hitler? That is beyond ignorance and hatred. Comparing a politician to Hitler is one thing (and in Bush's case really silly), but the Pope???

Learn the words. "Terrorist" doesn't mean what you think it means.

At one point Hitler didn't have WMDs, was in a box, and could have been kept contained without the terrible costs of the Anglo-American invasion and elective war.

Unfortunately France refused to enforce the sanctions at the time and did nothing when Hitler remilitarized the Rhineland.

The problem with moustache dictators is not that it is expensive to remove them when they are under control. The problem is the price when trying to get them after control is lost.

At least the world reacted when Saddam took Kuwait. The Czechs were not so lucky.

I don't get the left's love for dictatorships.

When people compare Stalin and Hitler and the Chinese leadership, though, Hitler always seems more evil to them.

Stalin and Mao had better publicists.
