“The truth of God’s love is not that bad things are going to happen to you, or that he’ll make them happen; it’s that he’ll be there with you when they do.”

The quote above was taken from a television show I watched the other day on WACX Channel 14 – 24-hours Christian station in my area. Sometimes I tune in when they have something interesting on.
______________________-

Sometimes we experience things in our lives that are hard to understand and we wonder or might ask “why me?” “What did I do to deserve this?” Sometimes someone might respond to you “That’s just how life is; or that’s just how God works; or he works in mysterious ways”. Sometimes there is no one answer to those questions.

Sometimes you have to look within yourselves for the right answer. Suppose that you are going through life, minding your own business, everything is going well, and suddenly everything begins to go wrong and nothing is ever right again? Or from ever since you can remember you’ve always had a hard life, nothing ever comes easy and no matter how you try, you can’t seem to get it right? Or you might be having a good life, everything is going well, in spite of the troubles you might have from time to time, yet somehow you still luck out anyway and get by?

Do you ever wonder at those ‘bumps’ in the road of your life? I’m sure you might be one of those people who ask “why me?” I’ve done that before, truthfully.

My theory is this; you have to somehow acknowledge God’s presence in your life. Whether you pray to the Universe or some other supreme being, (as long as it’s not idol worshipping for the Lord God is a jealous God according to Moses and the bible), you acknowledge him with love and thanksgiving.

Remember that we were created in his image, so we’re like him in some ways. How do you feel when you’re ignored, especially if it’s by someone who you really care about? They don’t see you or remember that you exist? Wouldn’t you be in a bad mood, wouldn’t you get petulant do something to let them see you? Wouldn’t you be jealous if that person only pays attention to someone or something else and none to you?

How about if they don’t even talk to you or share anything with you? How about if they only remembered you when they want something or when they need help?

Don’t you think that God has a right to be jealous too? That he would be angry? Is he showing the same emotions that we would? Because we are of him, we would react the same way.

It’s reassuring to know that God will be with you when you go through the trials of your life.

I’m probably not making any sense to you right now, its 12:09am and I’m tired and the words are not flowing the way I want them to.

Just be assured that God is there for you in all his infinite wisdom. He works through angels who are there to protect and take care of your every need. You have to acknowledge them and ask for that which you need.

“The spirit of the Lord is here, the presence of the Lord is here, I can feel him in the atmosphere, the presence of the Lord is here.”

Very nice. I like your point of view.

“The truth of God’s love is not that bad things are going to happen to you, or that he’ll make them happen; it’s that he’ll be there with you when they do.”
I think this is so true.

"How about if they don’t even talk to you or share anything with you? How about if they only remembered you when they want something or when they need help?"

I think that this is a big one that many people try to work on, or should. Some turn to God in prayers when they feel desperate, when they dont think of working on their relationship at all with him when things are going fine. Why not just talk with him and thank him for things that are well and when you just want to count your blessings?

Exactly! It's something that is so simple and doesn't take long to do.

Thanks for sharing!

Good stuff.

Sometimes we have a tendency to put God on the wall with a sign that says...open in case of emergency. When we don't get the answers from him we tend to blame him instead of ourselves.

I like the Proverb that says..."Trust in the Lord and lean not on your understanding, acknowledge him and he shall may your paths straight." Prov 3:5-6

Very nice article, it is true that I "forget" about Him sometimes. Very often to be honest. Whenever I talk to him again I ask Him to forgive me & that I have no excuse.

Thanks for posting this FS

Thanks KFC and Em for sharing with me! I know sometimes I do that too, forget to acknowledge Him because I get so busy living my day to day existence. But I try to always even if for a moment have a 'whispered' conversation which always leaves me feeling content!

Why would God experience Jealosy? Please explain it. What is Jealosy exactly? Isn't it an emotion that is originated in weakness? And anger, wouldn't that also be considered a weakness.
Why do we humans get Angry? Its because we are experiencing somthing in life that we can't cope with, so we express it in anger.

So lets exploit God's weakness with Jealosy.

Dear me. Once again, I'm forced, by the ignorant anthropomorphism of others, to point out the radically obvious.

God is not a superhumanly powerful human being. 'God', whatever else it may be, is not an analogue of, nor a surrogate for, human being. IT bears as much relation to humanity as I do to an ant - or better yet, to a unicellular virus or protoplasmic entity. God is not what you are, magnified. God is Other. God is different, God is what you are not.
'God', according to the Bible (and especially the OT) is everything which humanity is not capable of - which is the origin of the need for salvation.

Jesus doesn't give a shit if your Daddy fucked you in the cellar; and even less does He care for your emotional reaction to that fact. All Jesus cares about, and all he ought to care about, is whether or not you acknowledge his Father as God.

The rest of it is so much theological bullshit.

If hard times come to us it's not because God loves us and wants to test the purity of our hearts; it's because God is an evil Motherfucker with a warped sense of humor.

Or, if you prefer a more theological and eschatological definition, it's because God is concerned to reveal to those who believe in It the limit of their own credence and their own understanding.

God does not need believers; believers, in their infinite neediness, need God.

Is it any wonder therefore that It fucks with your heads by sending misery, catastrophe, and desolation your way? God Is, I Am. And there is nothing more to be said.

Let's see, according to the Bible from what I remember, God is a jealous god.

He doesn't want us to bow down or worship other images:

"Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;"

I googled it since I didn't want to misquote myself. But you can do the same and find quite a few references as to why God is a jealous god.

Anger is a weak emotion; it also depends on how you look on it. It could be considered strong because of what people do. However it is weak in the sense that people become controlled by it and react in ways they normally wouldn't.

You want to exploit God's weakness with jealousy? None of us mentioned exploiting anyone's weaknesses.

Why do we humans get Angry? Its because we are experiencing somthing in life that we can't cope with, so we express it in anger.

Some people do. They get angry, they become bitter or they become depress. Sometimes anger is the fuel that some people need to let them make changes that they need to in their lives. So, like I said, it depends on how you look at it. You're either someone who will use the negative things in your life and make them work for you in a positive way. Or you're going to sit and whine and wallow in it. You can choose to do the latter for a time, but if you do it for too long.....I guess we both know what the outcome of that will be.

Is it any wonder therefore that It fucks with your heads by sending misery, catastrophe, and desolation your way? God Is, I Am. And there is nothing more to be said.

Awrighty then Emperor! You're in a swinging mood!

Let's see if I can wrap what you said around my little brain and try to decipher:

First of all I had to go look up this word (and I'm not ashame to say I had to look it up)I like to know what I'm talking about. While I recognized the 'morphism' part of it, and knew the 'anthro' part of it too, I had to go get the meaning.

the ignorant anthropomorphism of others[/quote

- in short, 'the ignorant' moral reasoning of others. Got that. It means other things as well, but I think that's what you're saying.

God is not a superhumanly powerful human being.

I agree with you on this point.

God is Other. God is different, God is what you are not.
'God', according to the Bible (and especially the OT) is everything which humanity is not capable of - which is the origin of the need for salvation.

True again. But we humans have to try to identify in him the way we know how. After all, we were told that we were made in his image. To our simple minds, he's like us.

All Jesus cares about, and all he ought to care about, is whether or not you acknowledge his Father as God.

I think this pretty much is a proven point in the bible. This fact many a Christian should know.

If hard times come to us it's not because God loves us and wants to test the purity of our hearts; it's because God is an evil Motherfucker with a warped sense of humor.

I can laugh at this response because in many ways he has a warped sense of humor. Oh else would things be the way they are in this world if he didn't? But that's just me putting my humanly angle on it. To a level that I can understand.

Or, if you prefer a more theological and eschatological definition, it's because God is concerned to reveal to those who believe in It the limit of their own credence and their own understanding.

Profoundly said and I'm in agreement. Let's focus on 'the limit of their own credence and their own understanding'. We can and do only understand so much. We understand at the level that we find comfort in. Any further or higher for some would be too much to handle. Perhaps that's why he doesn't give us any more than we can handle. To someone who are superior in their intellect, and whose understanding is at a much superior level, they sought more and are able to grasp even better than the regular Joe do. To them, I say, great, more power to them, because they do know even more than the norm and are able to analyse and see that which God intended.

God does not need believers; believers, in their infinite neediness, need God.

This much is true. We do need him. Because if he wasn't there I think we would be totally hopelessly lost.

Is it any wonder therefore that It fucks with your heads by sending misery, catastrophe, and desolation your way?

I think we do this to ourselves all the time Simon. It's in our nature to seek misery and feel desolation even when we shouldn't. We can't leave it up to God to just be. When all this misery and desolation happens, we turn to the only source we know, God. It is as it is.

God Is, I Am. And there is nothing more to be said.

Amen brother, amen! Nought!<BR>

Thanks for the enlightening conversation!

Why? Do you think she'd believe me, unless she was a christian? And if she is, then she won't need telling because that's something she already knows - whether or not at any given moment she feels it.

Another futile comment there, steven. If intelligence were liquid you couldn't drown a gnat. You win today's "Ultimate Backwards Asshat Moment of the Day" Award.
