[Disclaimer: This is a blog I wrote some time ago. I didn’t post it yet because there seem to be one disagreement or two going on at the time. And I didn’t want it to look like I was criticizing anyone or pointing any fingers. I’m not waiting any longer. I thought it was an interesting article when I read it and am posting my blog about it now.]

For those of us who do it, blogging has become one of those treasured things we do. It has become a pleasant past time in which we engage in telling about our lives, it’s ups and downs, the joys and sadness, venting and letting out steam, and our hopes and dreams. We talk about our spouses, or our better halves, our children and whatever adventures we experience.

Some people don’t get into the personal aspects of blogging. They do the political blogs or talk about anything happening in our world today. Some only blog about music or celebrities or use their blog as a vehicle for their poetry or story telling.

Yes, it is wonderful, and sometimes I wonder how did we exist without it before?! I know, I know, of course if it hadn’t been invented we would have never missed it! However, just like the Internet, blogging has become such a natural part of our lives. It’s as if it was always there and anyone who doesn’t know that a Blog is must have been on a deserted island somewhere.

While there’s an upside to blogging, strangers become friends; some may even become a part of each others personal life offline; information is shared whether it be news, cookie recipes, ‘how tos’, or shopping tips; romantic or life lessons shared; there is also a down side to it.

There are those out there who blog for one reason only. For the glorifications of themselves. They don’t care who gets hurt, or whether what they write about, if it’s fiction or fact, they’re telling it so that they can have that high, their five minutes of fame.

The high also comes from the amount of readers and comments on their blog. But this alone is not enough. The ride to blog-stardom involves being Number 1 or being in the top 10 of whatever blogosphere they’re a part of.

Most times they must be the first to report something. While there’s nothing wrong with that, sometimes they don’t give credit where credit is due, so there’s no accountability as to what they do.

There are also bloggers who will seek the demise of others. By doing this it will be the key to the gate of blogdom, or so they might think. I think if someone is like this we should definitely worry about it! These are people who will look for anything to pick at and even if it is done in error and not a deliberate act they won’t ever apologize.

For some if their fellow blogger don’t dot all the ‘I’s and cross all the ‘T’s then it’s a coming out party. They get so much pleasure in calling out the other person’s mistake and scandalizing them.

While some bloggers may deserve having this done to them, there are those who don’t. Seeing someone else ‘drag through the mud’ is not pleasant and somehow others always get roped into the big fight. Is this all worth it though? What once was respect and good debate and banter will turn into a hated, very heated fight. It’s not worth it at all.

Ms. Parker has the right idea, as I’m sure most of you already do. She suggested ignoring them!

We've all come across bloggers who fit the "downside" descriptions...and yes, probably the best thing is to ignore them. HOWEVER, if one chooses not to ignore them, one just needs to be careful not to stoop to their level.

On the "upside", I am glad I've gotten to know good people through my blogging experiences.

Oh I'm glad you posted this!  Geesh,  alot of the first part of it sounds like a blog I wrote quite a while ago!  wonder if???  naw...she didn't read my stuff!  big ego here on my part!

yes,  ignoring is a good idea,  it's also part of that "danged if ya do,  and danged if ya don't"  either way one wonders if it's worth it to hang around when there's bloggers that fit the downside description.

Exactly!

We do not have to stoop to their level.  Me?  I started out as a kind of robot in that I was almost 100% political.  Now I am about 10% or maybe less. But my Blogs are PPTs.

Yea, I know what you mean trudy! It would be too bad to let that kind of attitude affect you on a personal level. That's why avoiding them is the thing to do.

I was almost 100% political.

That you were!

Ahhh...now I understand! Thx!

I agree completely. With all the things I have to be concerned with on a daily basis, online dramas and those who create them are something I am just not interested in.

I hear ya! It's pretty taxing on the spirit as well. Drains energy and produces bad karma!
