Body in Progress Journal Entry
I almost didn't bother with my Power Saturday today. I was feeling tired last night (Friday night) and had made up my mind that I wasn't going to bother with it today. However, when I woke up, I felt re-energised and didn't want to deny myself my 'me' time! So I ate some oatmeal, had some juice, took a nice shower and got ready to start my day.
First I dropped my daughter at work as routine (she's down to weekends only which is better all around!) and then I ran two errands before it was 'me' time.
Since I got to the gym at opening time, there was no walking before hand. I did my stretch and then began my workout.
I started with dumbells, doing hand lifts, side lifts, bending side to side in order to work my waist and that bulge that's receding (yeah!) and holding the weights up over and behind my head so as to work the back of my arms. I also did the pose and lifte my arms from behind. I continued with all these different exercises for 15 minutes.
I then went to a machine I have used before but not in a while since I started working out again. It had two different weights that you could pull or lift while standing. I worked on that for a bit, man, it was hard! I then went to the back extender and worked on that for a while too. Next it was the leg extender, the leg lifter and then I sat down and worked on my arms some more. By the time I was done I had lifted weights for 30 mins! Wow. I wasn't huffing too much too which was great!
I then went to the epiliptical machine and did a series of fast and slow movements for 15 minutes. Then it was the threadmill for another 15 minutes. I put the incline up to 6ins and the speed to 3.2. I ran most of the time and walked as well. I took my time with the running, didn't want to overdo it. But I found I ran longer because my fitness level was increasing.
I felt really good. I stopped counting but I think I've been working out regularly for a month now. My breathing was not as labored as in the beginning. I'm still not at the not puffing stage entirely but I'm getting there. My goal is to be able to walk/run up and down a flight of stairs without being out of breath. It might seem like a simple goal but it's not at all. it's difficult to think that I couldn't even walk a half a mile without being really labored with my breathing! Now, I can safely say not anymore!
So today's workout was:
Weights: 30 mins.
Cardio: 30 mins.
Total body workout = 60 mins!
