I can’t believe some of the stuff that’s out there. Apparently, there is a new type of road side litter out there. And this one’s a doozy! [Note to Mason, I know you’re not involved in this mess!]

You know when you’re on a long trip, and you can’t stop to take a bathroom break, at least not for us women, we have to stop! However, men out there, have the slight advantage over us that they can just grab a bottle and relieve themselves.

My hubby used to do it when he was a cab driver in NY and couldn’t find anywhere to use the bathroom. He told me that’s what he had to do sometimes, but not with passengers in the car, and only in dire circumstances. OK, I understand that, not a problem.

A lot of truckers do it too. They and other people who travel the roadways a lot. That’s actually not a big deal; again, I understand sometimes you’ve got to do what you have to do!

The thing that I didn’t know they were doing is they have been littering the highway with their mess. Yes, they throw it out the window on the roadside, on the curb, wherever! It’s been a nightmare for some cities and counties.

One county decided they would count some of the litter they’ve been rounding up. They found 2,666 bottles of urine, and a list of other stuff, that I won’t mention (because I will hurl) but you can read further in the attached Link.

Some states have resorted to fines of over a thousand dollars and even jail time if necessary. Hopefully it won’t come to that for anyone whose doing it. But as you read along in the article, you’ll see there are so many issues involved, including the conditions the truckers have to work under. It’s definitely a lot of stress involved.

I just think they should at least find the garbage bin at the next truck stop or rest area and get rid of it in the proper way. Then again, there are complaints that some of the litter was even found at rest stops, and not in the garbage bin either! Go figure!

Sadly this isn't a new problem at all. While the vast majority of the truckers out here are quite responsible with their pee bottles and other trash we do have a minority of slobs out here who won't hesitate to toss their trash anywhere except where it belongs.

The majority of us take a very dim view of this behavior and will call a driver on it when we see it happen. I witnessed a driver for a company I won't name here toss out a trash bag and pee bottle in a Wal mart parking lot on day while I was stopped to pick up some groceries. I yelled at him on the radio but he refused to respond.

I called his company and reported him as I had noted his truck and trailer numbers. His company is a very large one and takes their reputation seriously (I worked for them for a while). I hope he was fired for it.

The vast majority of truckers are clean, polite, and professional. Sadly, it's that small minority that never showers, wears dirty, nasty looking clothing, and would rather drop their trash on the ground instead of walking 10 feet to a trash can that makes us all look bad because they are the ones people remember.

Personally, I'd like to horse whip every one of those slobs. Or better yet, have them permanently banned from the industry. We have enough problems out here without these pigs making it worse for all of us.

The old saying about a few bad apples is true, at least in the minds of people. I've had people make all sorts of negative assumptions about me when they hear that I'm a trucker. That's thanks to those few slobs they have encountered at some point.

I once had a woman who didn't know I was a trucker tell me that truckers are "creepy". Upon asking a few questions I learned that she had ever actually only met one trucker (that she knew of) and he was creepy, therefore all truckers must be creepy. That's how many people think.
