Life as I Know It; Family; Lifestyle; and Healthy Living!

Have you ever wondered about some people’s signature, how they sign their name? I have! Yes, I have nothing better to do with my time uh?! Yeah right!

I just wondered at it because I’ve seen two signatures where I couldn’t even make out the first names of the persons signing the document. What use is a signature if no one can even tell that it is you? I don’t understand it.

I know signatures are unique, that’s what’s special about them. It’s your very own personal marker.

However, when someone who is not used to it cannot identify that it’s yours, what’s the point? So some people like to be unique and have that special scribble, especially to deter forgery, which I do understand.

Isn’t it better though to have one signature, and stick with it?!

That would make sense wouldn’t it? Especially when it comes to signing very important papers, the signatures do have to match. That is exactly what happened to a friend of mine who might have to travel overseas to resign papers for a house being sold. The signature on one set of documents doesn’t match the final ones. Unfortunately for her, some people are so technical they will want a re-sign in person!

Over the years my signature has stayed true to form. I used to do that, sign my name every which way. Now I’ve perfected the signature I like and that’s the one I use.

When I prepare a document and I put a line for signature, and another line with the request to print name, you know what I get? Two scribbles! Some people still don’t know the difference between printing their name and signing it. [shakes head laughing] Amusing to see sometimes, but annoying when you’re trying to figure out who is who if they are new.

Aw well, that’s life, not such an important discussion to some, however, important enough to the few who will make a note to remember to perfect their signature and also to remember what it looks like!

My signature changes gradually over time without me even noticing it.

I signe the deeds for the house and 10 years later tried to sell - I got told the signature was wrong - hehehe and bot was it very wrong!

My signature is the ONLY thing I ever write. Everything else I print because my handwriting really sux. You can make out my first name easy enough but my last name that is ten letters long gets a little goofy! heh, I get called doctor alot but people still take my checks!

sorry about all the typing errors I am sure you can still read it though!

Due to my limited dexterity, mine is one you could not read.  But it is unique and those that do not know me, would do it wrong no matter how closely they tried to counterfit it.

That is what my friend is experiencing right now. Sometimes you will forget how you sign an original document. If you don't stick with one way of doing it! [oh I just realised a tongue-in-cheek moment!]

Sometimes I have good handwriting, sometimes not so good. It depends on how much of a hurry I'm in!

that's funny Joe!

Haha, I'm glad you made the comment, I didn't want to seem picky! That's ok though!

See, this is the only reason why some people sign their names the way they do and that's ok. My brother does that. But he perfected one unique signature which he loves and uses on everything. The only difference is, when it's time to print his name, he prints his name. Some peole don't.

I will never understand that.  I can print. But Cursive is harder for me.

I actually have three distinct signatures that I use depending upon what I am signing. Two of the three are nearly illegible, which is intentional and of those two one is more so and would be very difficult to forge. Not impossible, but difficult. Signatures on most legal type documents, checks, etc., don't actually need to be read as they are merely our modern day version of a seal of authenticity.

I have one signature that is also distinctive but very readable. I use that one for signing things where someone at some point may actually need to read it. I use this one for work related documents such as bills of lading and trips reports as well as my log books. The DOT actually has a rule that states your signature on the log book pages must be legible.

I certainly have developed one of those unique scribbles. It includes my first initial, an odd squiggle, middle initial, and last initial followed by an "L" and squiggle. None of my names include an L, though. With my terrible dexterity, though, it's still never the same twice. When I was in second grade, my parents were told to invest in a computer, since my writing was so atrocious.

Shortly after I turned 21, I was in a liquor store buying a bottle for a party, and was asked to sign my name in a book. The signature on my license though, was from when I was sixteen, and had just written it in cursive. Fortunately, even today, my cursive is as bad as it was at 16, so I was easily able to replicate it.

LOL!

There was no such things as Personal computers when I was in the second grade. But I got an F in handwriting in the 4th! The teachers comment? "he tries to hard".

But that is why I got into personal computers! I wrote a WP program back in 79! (Crude rude but effective).

This I understand and that's true also!

Yes, some places do require that signatures be legible. I think for some people this is impossible so this is when they end up printing!

! Gosh, not what a parent wants to hear! That teacher is 'bold' to state it that way!

Wow! I guess you lucked out on that score!

Yikes. My son is always in a hurry to write as well. I keep telling him to slow down. In fact, he does everything in a hurry and I'm constantly on his case! The only time he slows down, on the computer, and watching TV.

My handwriting sucks...so I just try to keep my signatures similar...and if I have to sign those little electronic pad things...I screw it up all the time...I need friction!

My penmanship was pretty poor when I was in school. It improved a great deal when I started using a fountain pen to keep a journal in college. Somehow it just made me write better. Now I have people comment on how nice my penmanship is.

Those get me all the time! FedEx has the best one! Your signature comes out clear all the time!

The pen you use can help to make a difference, I've noticed that M!

That's great!
