Another one bites the dust

I’ve been sitting around, ok maybe not sitting around, but I’ve been waiting for NBC to bring back Surface to its programming. I’ve been at the edge of my seat awaiting the next season especially since the Season Finale was so intense.

I love this show, really I do. It had the combination of mystery, weird happenings, unknown creatures and really endearing characters that you became attached to. I especially loved Miles Bennet, played by the actor Carter Jenkins who was so convincing in that role. I even got attached to the alien sea creature that became his pet, Nim.

I heard the rumor of cancellation but I just didn’t want to believe it. They wouldn’t cancel a show that was that good now would they? Alas, they have canceled it! A friend who also enjoys watching it broke the news to me gently a couple of weeks ago and I was still in denial.

Recently doing a search for it, I found out the truth. Oh the agony! Why, oh why did they cancel it? I know there are an abundant amount of reasons, one of them is probably the ratings. The show was becoming popular and known to everyone. It had a slow start but the real, true Sci-Fi fans found it and we were watching!~

We became hooked once again on a show that, although the writing might seem far-fetched at times, was so interesting because the actors made the show worthwhile. You became so involved in their character they had you sitting at the edge of your seat waiting with bated breath to see what happened next! Yes, it was all that!

After the superb must see clincher at the end of last season, which actually became the last show, if someone watching it wasn’t hooked, they certainly got hooked on it then! So, for NBC to not continue with this show is a terrible act. Terrible especially to keep us hanging wanting to know what became of Miles and Nim and the other main characters, Laura and Rich, caught in that tsunami that hit the city and had them on top of the church steeple in fear for their lives.

How could NBC just leave us, the fans hanging like this? Shame on them! I really hope they will at least bring it back to tie up loose ends are just make a darn movie of it already!

They have taken the same route as HBO who canceled Carnivale (I won’t even start on this one). I just don’t get it!

Surface is no more, this sucks big time!

I’ve signed the petition that unfortunately didn’t make NBC change their minds on canceling the show. I don’t care if it’s over, I signed it anyway. Just maybe that petition might let another network or station pick it up.

I never saw Surface,  however know what you mean.  I thought that NBC took away "Medium" and that's my all time favorite show now!   This coming week there's a new season starting.  Thank Goodness!!

I haven't had cable since May,  and haven't had HBO in decades so,  haven't seen "Carnivale"  although would have loved to have seen it!

Oh the misery of a cancelled show...

Yes, I heard it was coming back. I like it too but I don't stay with it a lot. I do try to keep up with it though and am glad it's coming back.

Exactly! You invest your time and emotions and then "Wham!" they let you fall flat on your face! Not pretty!

I still find myself wondering about Laura, Rich, Miles and Nim. It was such a good show! I always seem to fall for the shows that get canceled after a season or less.

Rest assured..Heroes has been bought for a complete season. Whew!
Apparently it is the biggest hit NBC has had in years.
I am dying waiting for it to restart in January!

That's because the American populace as a whole doesn't want a good, well-crafted piece of entertainment. They want a poorly-written, tawdry piece of crap.

That's why "America's Next Top Model" is in its fifth season, COPS has been on for twenty years straight, and crime procedurals that all have the same storyline (cop in danger) and the same denumount (cop is saved, bad guy miraculously confesses to the cops, forget trial baby) are all the rage - over half of the top-ten shows follow this crime-procedural mold.

Whereas quality television like Arrested Development can never take off, Firefly is cancelled in its infancy, Brisco County Jr. gets the ax after one season, etc.

America is too stupid for good shows, I'm afraid.

That's what the TV execs wants us to think Braeden. They don't give most shows a chance and that's the sad part!
