Life as I Know It; Family; Lifestyle; and Healthy Living!

Myrrander wrote the following article Link. I do understand where he's coming from with his views. What I felt when I responded to it though was why are we letting people who only have one thing in mind, making money, ruin it for us?

Sure they do what they usually do, these retailers, because that's what they have been doing for years, and with each passing year their tactics become even more anti-Christmas.

Because while Christmas is also about giving something special to the ones you love, lest face it, it is that as well. The true meaning is what you make of it. What you teach to your children, letting them become aware of what this time really mean. Yes, we all know that December 25 was not the actual day of Jesus' birth, but somehow it is the day we celebrate now and it's too late to change it now. But why should we let what they do spoil it for us?

We shouldn't let the politicians and their crap, the anti-christians and their crap, the people who are just like Scrooge and their crap, or the retailers and their pretty fandangles and their crap, ruin Chritmas for us!

They are doing what they have to do, and I'll do what I have to do. Teach my children and let them know what a truly joyeous time of the year this is, despite all that they see and hear around them.

Share the wonderous moment that the birth of Jesus was and teach them what this time of the year means to our culture. Show them how much this time of the year meant a lot to their grandparents and what it meant to us as in being together as a family and really having fun!

It's not easy trying to do this believe me. They see and hear all the stuff on television and what's going on around them and they do get influenced by it all. The demands of what I want and when am I going to buy the presents have become a mantra for my two youngest. It's a mantra I'm about to get out of their heads by having a sit down discussion.

It's hard for them not to feel this way though, and while I don't like it, I don't make a big deal out of it because I do want them to feel the 'spirit', just in the right way!

So I will be celebrating Christmas, my home is decked, my office is even decked out!LOL! And I'm totoally stoked because I remember my childhood at this time of the year and I'm so glad my parents made it a special time for all of us!

The thing that just occurred to me about this is that there are too many who just want to take the joy out of anything they can get their hands on. While I agree with everything Myrander said, there are some 'spoilers' out there who just can't resist turning a supposedly happy, peaceful time of the year into some sort of personal campaign.
