Life as I Know It; Family; Lifestyle; and Healthy Living!
I've received this warning email for like the 5th time now. The other four times I toss them in the trash. I've learned my lesson to check first before sounding an alarm. I haven't found anything, because I'm probably looking in the wrong place.

Have anyone heard about this Life is Beautiful virus that would be the end of your computer hard drive if you open the document? Just wondering.

Here's the email I've cut and pasted:

Subject: VERY IMPORTANT WARNING

VERY IMPORTANT WARNING

Please Be Extremely Careful especially if using internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on. This information arrived this morning direct from both Microsoft and Norton.

Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the Internet.

You may receive an apparently harmless email with a Power Point presentation "Life is beautiful."

If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and delete it immediately. If you open this file, a message will appear on your screen saying: "It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful."

Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC and the person who sent it to you will gain access

to your NAME, E-MAIL AND PASSWORD. This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the anti-virus software's are not capabl e of destroying it. The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself "life owner."

PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS EMAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS and ask them to PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY.

Yeah, like I'm going to fall for that last line! Why do they always tell you to send ithe warning to all your friends? Wouldn't you be transferring a virus to them if the email is a trap?!

No, it's telling you to pass on the warning... not the email with the virus.

Some folks get joy at making other's life a mess. And an email that gets copied to EVERYONE and their mother can make a good sized mess on many servers. So don't even pass this kind a warnings around. Instead, talk to your friends and family about good anti-virus protection and a good firewall. You'll look super-smart and do some real good.

yes, next time, use Google to search first, and you won't have to post a forum message like this kind of lame hoax again.

Any time an email has that in its subject/body read 'scam', aka 'bullshit'....

Thx for the info Zubaz. I'll pass the info on to my compatriots. They get these crazy emails time and again. Sometimes I can send them a 'it's a hoax' reply, other times I don't have the time. I'll pass on the web info you linked - appreciate it!

All inputs are helpful! Even when the questions seem silly to others, it's always helpful to have an answer.
