Which fares better?

It dawned on me that I do quite a lot of my reading of news and what’s going on in the world online. It’s more convenient and a lot less messy than newsprint!

It got me thinking though, which is better? Reading an actual newspaper, or getting in front of the computer?

You have to understand that I consider the act of reading itself as an art. It’s something that I really love to do, when I do get the chance to do it. If I didn’t have other obligations in my life I tell you I would be buried under mountains of books, magazines and paper! LOL!

The art of reading to me is to really get involved in what you are reading about. Whenever I do go out and buy the newspaper, I read it from cover to cover. However, I only read certain sections. The Lifestyle section, Art – if any, Local news, and I also enjoy perusing the ads to see what’s on sale on a given week.

The only thing I really dislike about this though is that it’s very messy and there is a lot of newspaper to throw out. Of course I’ve recently learned that you can use old newspaper in your garden to help the earth! Go visit my Going Green Linkarticle! {shameless plug}lol!

Seriously though, I believe that online news articles do better because they are more easily and often cited and it’s quicker to do a search without having to try to remember what you did with last Friday’s paper!

The best part about reading articles on line…It’s free! Although you sometimes have to sign up with some of the news companies….again….that’s free too!

I read News a lot as well.  I use to get the paper.  But found I was not reading it in a timely fashion, so quit.  I scan the headlines of the news sites and read what I want.  The Technology and Science are the most read for me.

Far as reading the news goes, I just check out headlines that catch my eye...mostly crazy things, something with animals, really fascinating science, or just something that interests me and these are usually somewhere online. I don't think I've ever actively went looking for news except when I'm sitting somewhere around campus and there happens to be a school paper which I'll glance through.

There is something nostalgic and beautiful about pulling out the paper and reading it as you eat your breakfast. I feel like an old-timer, like I should be sitting in the big wingbacked chair, smoking a pipe or something.

There are a few papers I read online - The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal. I peruse these papers' "online editions" almost every day. But I still prefer to go upstairs, sit at the kitchen table, and pour over the local rag, the Deseret Morning News. It just feels . . . right.

That happens to me sometimes too. I usually end up tossing the paper in disgust because a week has gone by!

Yes, they do put some compelling news on line!

I hear ya! My fav position is to go into my sitting room, by the window and spread out on the sofa and read - I don't get to do that too often!
