Life as I Know It; Family; Lifestyle; and Healthy Living!

While we’re on the topic of confrontation and such; I listened to a discussion this morning on Good Morning America. One of the hosts was questioning a Psychologist, or someone of that field, about why people would behave in a manner as that astronaut did and do something that was so out of character to her friends and family. Is that type of behavior normal or to be expected? (I’m paraphrasing here)

The Psychologist mentioned Bipolar disorders, depression, and other condition like that and said, yes, it was possible.

I wonder though, would a behavior so obsessive, so off the chart (to coin a phrase) be considered as trauma and/or Bipolar disorder or some other named misbehavior, which makes them snaps and behave in such an outrageous fashion, their family and friends or strangers, would have to wonder at their mental state?!

Would that be a conditioned behavior or just plain old rage?! Rage at being pushed aside by a lover, rage at being made to feel as if they didn’t matter and/or blind rage enough to make you want to kill?!

I guess if I look at it from the point of view of that poor woman, I would chalk it down to blind rage of course. But rage enough for all that drama? That leaves me to ponder.

Bipolar disorders and other dysfunctions such as that have been blamed for people’s irrational behavior. A relationship gone badly is not the only reason for people behaving badly or obsessively, but it is the main cause.

I dont see it as rage.  I see it as fear.  Fear of growing old and not being the 21 year old we once saw ourselves at.  That and removal of the inhibition of actions due to celebrity status.  I mean, what she did was in line with what Hollywood people do.  fame is very heady, and so few people can deal with it and remain themselves.

I don't see it as that, but that's an interesting take on it Doc! What she did was stupid of course. From a celebrity status to felony!

I've always taken great comfort in one of my grandfather's favourite sayings - some people are just crazy. They're not sick, it's not a disease, they're just not right in the head and nothing can be done about it. That astronaut was just one of those people.

Sure, it's a stereotype and probably not PC, but life is so much easier when you have a handy stereotype to fall back on.

Why thank you Miss Serenity! I guess I am just a super cynic, so it shows in my outlook on celebs.
