What it Costs to say "I LOVE YOU"
Valentine's Day!

It's that time of year again when you either get lucky because you finally popped the question and your girlfriend said yes, planned a lavish night for your significant other and she will show you how much she really appreciate you, or you made a fool out of yourself one more time and it's just another day for you!
Hopefully none of you will experience the latter! The big day is coming, anyone doing the countdown? In two days it will be St. Valentine's Day - February 14th!
I think along with Christmas, retailers look forward to this day with bated breaths! We're talking Jewellery, Flowers, Dinner, the works, or maybe not all at once for some folks and that's alright too!
But, this is a special day not just for lovers, old, young, and new, but also for everyone! It doesn't matter what religion you are, (oops, except a Jehova Witness), most people do celebrate February 14th the day of LOVE!
I don't intend to go into the story of how that day came about (I think you all know it by now), but I'll share with you how much V-Day is likely to cost you, according to
Mary Crane
who wrote the article, "
What it costs to say 'Be Mine'
" on
msnbc.msn.
com.
According to Ms. Crane, it will cost approximately
$120
per person this year! The cost has gone up because last year the cost was $101!
Ms. Crane said that men will spend more than us women do, they spend about
$154
, while women spend about
$85
! I don't know what she's trying to do here, drive a rift between lovers before that special day comes around?!
At any rate, this is what guys will buy, flowers, candy and jewellery. If you're planning to get engaged men, Tiffany debut a new ring last month called the Tiffany Novo at a cost of $2,810.
Greetings cards do pretty well too. Most men (and women) plan to spend about $3 for a Valentine's card. If you really want the nice ones you have to roll out at least $5! (that little tip is from me)

One thing I have noticed this year is there are a lot more varied prices out there and if you want to be frugal you will have no problem! There's a link within the article I have linked above where you can get some tips on how to have a frugal Valentine's Day!
Some people like to keep it simple. Hey, as long as my hubby remembers to even say 'Happy Valentine's Day', I'll be happy! (and he'll sleep on the couch for two days!)
