Oh really?!

Some detergent bottles are getting smaller, have you noticed? Each time that I go into our favorite Big W or Wally World, as you guys call it, the detergent bottles are smaller and flatter! Yet I pay the same price! What is up with that?

In fact, for a while now most of the items we buy have gotten a makeover. They are packaged in smaller containers but they still cost the same! And although they are in smaller containers, the contents themselves are even smaller than the packaging so we get socked both ways!

I just read an article that now all the manufacturers who make detergents are going to make their containers smaller than what they are now, and one thing will remain the same, the price! Uh?

Do you know the reason why they are going to do this? Because of Wal Mart! The giant retailer wants the smaller packaging so that they can fit more on their shelves! Of all the #@@%&*%$#! I tell you, if there’s proof that I should not shop there anymore, there it is right there! I’ve been complaining about shopping there lately, although I do it for the convenience and for the prices, going there lately have been very annoying! What with them sneakily raising the cost of everything they sell on a daily basis, lack of supplies and lack of staff! And you know one of the biggest scam about them going small, “they are doing it for the environment!” What a crock!

According to the article:

[quote]”Retailers are pushing the big shrink in detergent bottles because when their shelves are full with smaller bottles, they lose fewer sales to products being out of stock and less employee time is spent replenishing product. Retailers also save on transportation costs because more of the smaller bottles can fit on a truck. Meanwhile, manufacturers, which over the past two years have been hit hard by high oil prices, save on the petroleum-based plastic packaging as well as the costs of shipping to retailers”[quote]

So its not just Wally World, it’s all retailers! So they expect us shoppers to swallow this crap? Wow, we must be so impressionable and such suckers! They have no respect for their consumers do they not? It’s bad enough that snacks and other food items have undergone drastic shrinking, now they are doing it where we need it the most! We certainly do have to launder our clothing!

I know, some people continue to buy regardless, what choice do we have if we want the item? I tell you what choice, avoid shopping at some places and if you do, avoid buying some of the things that are shrinking! I know, easily said than done, but I do not buy potato chips in bags anymore. If I do because my son likes it, I buy the other types with the covers once in a while! As for shopping at Wally World, I am not visiting there as often as I used to. I have got to take it slowly, because I cannot go into immediate denial, I would begin to have withdrawal symptoms!

Here is a link to the article! Link

What, you thought I was going to talk about something else?! [grins – gotcha!]

Admin help please. I don't know why I'm having symbols within this blog. I've written out all the words to see if that would help. But I have noticed that when I'm typing this the article appears to be ok? What gives?

post it to MM bitches about joeuser.

I have a washer  that you can only use products maked with the  "HE" symbol on it, already expensive, I have noticed a shrinkage in everything but the price too.

Colleen says to tell you "SIZE does matter"  MM struts away from the puter, dragging the ANACONDA behind him! heh heh heh

Actually, the real blame is none of the above.  It is Nixon.  Vendors started doing that back during the early 70s to get around the Wage Price Controls.  See, they could not raise the prices on existing products, os to get around it, they made different ones.  Smaller sizes, same price.

After the controls were lifted, they found that most consumers were not aware of the price hike, so they continued to do that thing. Instead of raising the prices, they reduce the content.  Then after a spell, they will come out with a larger size (and charge more), but the consumer thinks "Hey!  More for the buck!", so they buy it.

You're right, I think I might just do that! It took me so long to log on, I'm still in the "unknown" region because it won't log me in and I'm thankful for the Forums where I sit right now!

No kidding! I think they are mistaken that we haven't noticed, we do! It's not so much the shrinking, it's the cost, why not make the prices less? I know, they won't make money...crapola!
