Where's the category for Vacation? I couldn't put this under Travel, because I didn't really travel, not technically anyway. And I didn't want to put this under Sports & Leisure because it was more about day trips.....
Some of you might know that one of my BFF (aren't you tired of that term but it says a lot!), visited with me for five days and man was it fun! We haven't seen each other since I left NY but we are always on the phone chatting at least two or three times a week when we aren't busy.
She hadn't taken vacation in a long time and she just closed her eyes (meaning forgetting everything that would stop her) and booked a flight. She was making it a two destination trip, me being her first stop and then her other friend the second.
Well, her being here was an eye opener for me because it made me realise that I wasn't putting much fun into my life, not really. Here I live in this beautiful state/city and I haven't been to many of the attractions. We've been to Disney and the kids have been to Universal Studios and I've been here and there with the kids but there is still so much to see.
There are so many times I just get caught up in daily living and trying to make things work that I forget that there is another world out there and it doesn't really take a lot of money to have fun!
So I took her to some of the sights. Our famous International Drive where she shopped for some souvenirs that she loved! Went to the Ripley's Believe it or not, the upside down building, and we drove by Wet n Wild because I hadn't bought tickets but it was fun looking at the weird loops of the slides and seeing other people have fun!
The next day I showed her around my neighborhood which had some great shopping places and one of the malls nearby. We did a bit of sight seeing too.
On Saturday evening we went to CityWalk where at Universal Studios. I really wanted a Margarita but since I was driving decided not to do it!lol!
Sunday morning we drove to Cocoa Beach. It's been so long since I've been to the beach, although we live here we just didn't make the time. And honestly, my hubby hates long drives and I couldn't be bother to argue with him and I just don't like taking long drives with the kids by myself.
But I did it and I'm glad we did! It was a great day, sunny, seeing everybody else on the go with their surf boards and just letting their hair down, what fun!
We jumped into the water, screaming and laughing like little girls! I packed a picnic and lots of juice and water so we were set for the day.
She left for the second leg of her trip and boy I miss her already! I promise the kids to drive out to the beach again and I'm going to do it really soon!
I'm hoping to try some other beaches as well because I see that I can make these long trips on my own and that's a good thing!
