So we can pick ourselves up!

Oh the metaphor!

We have so many of those to guide us on our road to fulfillment don't you think?! We continually find those euphemism that helps us to see our way through life. It might seem offensive to some to speak of some things, yet there are those of us that find those wise philosophical thoughts that cautions us on our path to being what we are, human!

It's a natural part of being human. We continuously grow and learn from the mistakes we make in life. At least some of us do, while the few continue on their journey in circles, never finding that which they seek. And for the lucky few who are able to hop off that merry go round because they have discovered the answer(s) to their predicament, you lucky dogs you!

I do believe that we fall, we fail, make mistakes, so that we can learn from them and do our very best not to make those same mistakes twice! And by George if you do tread that sorry path again, look yourself in the face and promise never to do it again!

Thanks to Alfred Pennyworth and Thomas Wayne for those wise words! [those of you who are comic fans know what I'm talking about!]

Acceptance

Of the things we cannot change, or at least, of the things I cannot change! I'm learning to roll with the punches, go with the flow so to speak! It's much better to trust in God and let what you can't do anything about just happen as naturally as they are supposed to! Agreed? It makes my life so much better and run a lot less bumpy! Angelamarie has a great blog she recently wrote about trusting God!

You're not as dumb as you think you are!

Maybe I should rephrase that! Not that I thought I was dumb, but sometimes I don't think I'm smart enough, or even more rephrasing, sometimes I think I've lost that smart edge I used to have when I was younger and more hungry for growth in the career ladder of my life! Then again, I've come to realise I haven't really lost that hunger, it's still there, it's just changed it's taste in the type of food it wants to consume!

Like the other day I a friend of a friend was in need of a little guidance, she wants to start a business, found a grant that would be of help, but was in a predicament as to what to say in her request. She didn't feel she had the eloquence to put it together. I told my friend, let her send me an email, with just a few thoughts and give me an idea of what the grant requires. You see I used to assist with grants on my old job, many moons ago. Not that I was the instigator or the one in charge of the grants, but I did a few edits over the years and had a little know-how here and there, plus I constantly keep my eyes peeled for things I'm interested in. So I did it, wrote a paragraph for her and resend the email. She called me thanking me saying what a talent I had and I'm wasting it! I put into word everything she wanted to say but couldn't!

That got me thinking that she's right! I do have a knack for writing and I should pursue it! It's reaffirmed my quest to go back to school to get that degree in writing!

God's overall plan?

Our fall? [back on topic!] Do you think it is His plan for us to sometimes loose face, fall from grace, make mistakes? Sometimes there are those of us who needs to be cut down a peg or two, perhaps! Some people might say, well your God is a wicked God to do that to us! Is he really? Don't some us need to wake up and face our realities? To see why we need to shake ourselves out of apathy? Depression? Sometimes we need a swift kick in the butt to get us going!

I'm all for it! How about you?

Although mistakes can cause heartache and headaches, it is indeed true that they do make Most of us stronger and more aware. Besides this, I don't have too much to add to your many words of wisdom on here, Donna.

Last year at my job we were assigned to read "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People." I was interested as I have seen this book on people's shelves for years. Although it was a really bad time for any of us to have to add a book report to our plates, I attacked it with fervor. It was life changing and I would recommend it for anyone else.

My team was assigned Habits 2 and 3. The biggest thing I took away from those two habits was his illustration of the circle of influence. We all worry about lots of things, things we can control and things we can't. The state of the environment, politics or world peace are not within our control (though we can do our small part). If we dwell on those things we will get overwhelmed and depressed. Instead we should focus on what we can control, namely ourselves. If you focus and begin to build your strength inside your circle of influence, that circle will begin to grow.

I don't know if I am doing a good job explaining this, but it was a very freeing concept for me.

I agree. I tend to be a control freak and worry wort which makes for a pretty stressful existence. God has to (with embarrassing frequency) give me a swift kick to remind me to let go! He also often has to rescue me out of my "whoa is me" pit where I think I can never make myself or my life any better. How often am I going to have to learn that that is not true before I really believe it??

Isn't it interesting our how interests change, or more appropriately evolve? Keep looking out for those little things as they are what keep you reconnected with yourself as opposed to just being wife/mother/daughter/friend and whatever other hats you where.

God bless!
