Life as I Know It; Family; Lifestyle; and Healthy Living!

At least I don’t think I could. Because that would mean giving up what I like to eat, meat, although most of the times I eat chicken, but once in a while I like to eat red meat. I try to eat liver often, because it’s good for me with the iron it provides and which I lack, so says my doctor last year. I have no idea if that has improved, and I have not been taking vitamins! I think I better start doing that ASAP!

I do like to eat vegetables and healthy foods and I do know doing so does not a Vegan make me, however, from what I’ve seen on television, at the movies, and read in books, magazines etc., that means also being careful what you put in your mouth, making sure they are not by-products of meat (if I’m wrong about that, enlighten me!). That I would find hard to do. I don’t even count my calories (although I do watch my food intake – I eat anything I want but not too much of it!), how would I be able to keep an eye out for all the details in every ingredients I eat?!

Does being a Vegan means not wearing fur? Not that I own any, at least not any more! I had one piece, a mink shawl; I gave it away when I moved from NY. But I also had pocketbooks and coats lined with real animal hair, was that cruel of me I wonder? I don’t have those anymore, given away too. I do still however, own a couple pieces with fake fur, so I guess that’s not so bad! And I really don’t like the stories I hear of what is done to animals to get their furs, I’m not a supporter of that at all!

Being a Vegan seems to be quite a responsibility. Not that us carnivores don’t take responsibility for what we eat, despite what some people think PETA)! There are those of us who do care enough about the world around us and try to make changes to make it a better place!

I was actually watching a reality show and that brought on this thinking. The Two Coreys on A&E. I loved watching those two guys when they were younger and was curious as to what they were doing now. Corey Feldman and his wife are Vegans and everything they do seem to revolve around being Vegans.

I might consider being a Vegan, but not at the expense of my meat!

I don't eat meat.  Grew up around farm animals and saw what it takes to get an animal from farm to table...yuck.   Heck, in Michigan, they consider livestock too diseased to live by the time they reach the slaughterhouse- if one runs away and gets put at a sanctuary, the sanctuary has to quarantine them until the health department deems them healthy enough to be around other animals.  Yikes!

I could never be Vegan though for one simple reason--- CHEESE!  Dude, life's just not worth livin' without cheese.

But, yeah, vegans will not consume nor use any animal or animal byproduct.  It's quite extreme and a devotion.

hmmm...liver is so high in cholesterol, though.  Seems like you would be better off eating more iron rich veggies, or taking a supplement.

I knew there was a reason I hated liver!

I eat it about twice a month, lean beef liver. So far so good with my cholesterol! [knocks on wood!]

I could never be a vegan either.

I'm the type of guy who will eat wings for an appetizer, steak for the main course and ribs for dessert.

Today at a Bar-B-Q restaurant, the workers had t-shirts with a saying in the back that said something like, "I didn't work my way to the top of the food chain to just eat vegetables".

I just had some nice vegan nachos. I like it, but it doesn't float everyone's boat.

I couldn't do it full time, though. I'm trying to drop some serious poundage for starters, so even cheese is off limits for the next few weeks.

"I didn't work my way to the top of the food chain to just eat vegetables".

Do they sell those?  I would love one.

I understand the views of vegetarians, whether they eat eggs or not. Most vegans act like complete knuckleheads pushing their views. WHen I ate strictly vegetarian, I actually gained weight. That could be an indicator that we ate too much cheese, or that the wife was a mighty fine cook.

The lovely goat we barbecued Saturday was killed and cleaned by my Cabrito Chef with assistance from me. Did it disturb me when we were skinning it out? Nope! I knew how good it was going to taste. And it did.

I think it depends on whether they're doing it for health or moral reasons, SSG. I am an unapologetic meat lover. I would eat steak 90 times a day if I could. And I believe that's what animals are here for. But I don't like the way it makes me feel.

Too much red meat gives me migraines, makes me feel loagy, and is just overall unpleasant. I feel my best when I'm not eating too much of the stuff.

Me neither! Like I said, I do eat vegetables, love to eat vegetables, I just can't eat only vegetables! And yep, that's the fastest way to weight loss, along with exercising!

That is a cute phrase isn't it?!

As I mentioned on JU Trivia, sounds yummy!

It's never good to have too much of anything! That's a lesson we all learn at one time or another.
