You go in, sometimes never to come out
No wonder people fear it. They don’t like going there and it’s the last resort unless you’re really sick or dying! These are some of the comments I’ve heard on and off recently and over the years when people talk about going to the hospital. You go in with one ailment and leave with several others, that’s if you ever leave at all!
Some people will go to the hospital only if it’s the last thing they have to do, they have to do it, to save their lives. But many are of the mindset that they won’t survive that trip. I can’t say I blame them. Look at all the mistakes I’ve heard about. Surgeries gone wrong, wrong limb, leaving instruments in people, sending people home when they really needed the care, then the person dies. The germs that seems to float around no matter what. Or are some people just giving hospitals a bad name? Is it fair what people think and how they feel?
There are some places that are really great; truthfully, I’ve yet to meet that place that is really great. I’ve been in hospitals personally, only when having my three children and while those were not really bad experiences, they were not all that great either. Having been around my mom when she was ill, the hospital staff left her sitting in her mess for too long, too often and didn’t give her attention when she needed It! They didn’t do as good a job as they could have done. Yes, they get busy, they have a lot going on, but there was no excuse for that.
It’s too bad that things are the way they are now, people suing left, right and center; hospitals coming up with their bill of rights to protect themselves, so sometimes patients sign their own rights away with out knowing it, with all those documents they give us to sign! Where is there a fix in a situation like this? Our society has gotten used to mishandling and inappropriate behaviors and other social issues that make our world that much more difficult to live in. Is it any wonder that people do use the only thing they know so as to get the attention of those who should care? Of course there are those people who are just happy-go-lucky-suing someone for everything and anything! I’m digressing away from my article.
I won’t give up on hospitals, because there are those wonderful doctors out there who are really life savers, who are without question, the most gifted group of people on this planet. But there are those amongst them who don’t seem to care anymore and that is when hospitals become dung holes of mess! It’s sometimes hard convincing someone that they do need to go to the hospital for their own good when they have this fear of never leaving it alive. I can’t say I blame them, but in this life you have to take your chances!
