Video Game Sold Online for More Than $9000?!
Get out of here!

This caught my eye as I logged on to the computer in the wee hours of this AM.
"Dad sells son $90 video game for more than 9000 dollars"
! Of course I had to read the story because I can't imagine what and how and why!
Apparently the dad, a school teacher bought his son Guitar Hero III for the Wii as a Christmas gift. He came home unexpectedly and found his son with his two friends in the backyard smoking pot so to punish the son, mainly, and out of anger no doubt, the dad put the video game for sale on Ebay!
It was purchased for $9,100 by someone from Australia! Here's a link to the story:

On another note, I didn't realise the Wii or some of it's games would be in such short supply even after a year of it being out! It has been a year hasn't it? I've heard of so many people trying to get a hold of one and they have to do stakeouts in order to be the first to get a unit to buy at most stores around here. My friend has her family members all over Texas looking for one even though she lives here in Florida. She's trying to get it for her grandsons. Apparently the supply doesn't match the demand! I'm getting one for my family.
I did the next smart thing I could think of instead of staking out department or specialty stores at 4am! I went to my local pawn shop and requested a phone call the next time one comes in there. I've bought my son's Gamboy Advance and SP there prior and they were all in very good condition and they have been perfectly fine! Guess what, sure enough, one did! I'm set with my own Wii with a $20 off the retail price too! So I suggested my friend do that but she didn't listen and still hasn't found one. I checked again and they even told me they had another one in and it went out the same day! Those things are selling like hot cakes! I didn't let my son know about it yet, but it will be the big reveal for our Christmas!
As for the Guitar Hero game my son and I tried out the newer version for the Wii at our local GameStop recently. It was a lot of fun but difficult - at least for me! Considering that there were some available at places like GameStop (I guess there's a shortage where he is) but I'm surprise that dad had to pay $90 online to buy one and that someone else would even have to pay $9,100 for it!

The only insulting that took place was of a web site.
So you weren't singling any one person out. You intended to let us all know that we are swimming in the bowl. One could take that to mean that you have called us all turds. Not just one of us... all of us.
JU is just a bunch of fancy technology and servers without its people. With these people though, this is a community. You may not like it, but the guy behind the game you like does. He also likes seeing how well the information contained in these sites gets distributed across the net. I think the technology is pretty cool.
I have a simple solution for you the next time you see a cross posted article come your way. Don't click on it. Then it will be of no bother to you and you won't have to tell us what you don't like about us.

Yes, we'll agree to disagree, this is getting us no where! See we're not so bad at JU are we? We just stand up for ourselves and take shit from no one!!
I have no problem with anyone taking a stance for their opinions, in fact i am dismayed at those that do not.
Now i understand the cross posting issue i wont need to bother to voice my opinion as that article (and others) is not here, here being GalCiv2.com. I have no problem with the existence of Ju or your and others rights to use it.
I was of the opinion that you and the others (other cross-posted threads) came to this site (GC2) and leave Ju style threads here purely to "spam". Most of the threads that have come across from Ju are political and religious and again IMHO have no place here on GC2. Yes i know your post was gaming related but the article is so outrageous it fell to the same pile as the others.
John.
So you weren't singling any one person out. You intended to let us all know that we are swimming in the bowl. One could take that to mean that you have called us all turds. Not just one of us... all of us.
MY opinion is that many of the articles from Ju that turn up over here are indeed, worthy of being in the toilet. I guess one could take that as a reflection on the author, but that was not the intent.
I do not like the majority of articles that i have seen come from Ju. I suppose it is wrong for me to label all topics and posters the same as the ones i despise, but you sir did nothing to correct that assumption.
FS and Tex had the right at least to defend themselves as they believed they were being personally insulted. You just jumped on the band wagon without even reading the posts fully. You furthered the offensive language, placed words in my mouth and then done to me what you were defending others from. Insults. You assume alot, not all being correct, as perhaps did i.
At least FS and i have furthered the debate in a constructive way, it is a shame then that all you succeeded in doing was strengthening my opinion.
I have a simple solution for you the next time you see a cross posted article come your way. Don't click on it. Then it will be of no bother to you and you won't have to tell us what you don't like about us.
Now that i understand this cross-posting that is indeed the case.
Your right FS, not
all
on Ju are bad. Like we agreed, moving on.

At first when I read this, I didn't believe it either. But a quick search revealed too much evidence for me to fully believe it is a false story. There are so many stories I've seen where Australia is mentioned but then turn out to be a complete invention. I'm not so sure in this case.. I don't quite know whether it is a scam, but the Australian who paid for this is absolutely crazy (and not in a good way). As Gid said, this story will bear some watching.
