Life as I Know It; Family; Lifestyle; and Healthy Living!
Did any of you see the Golden Globe announcements last night? I tried to watch it, I really did but was too disgusted and distracted to stay with any of the programs! Channel 4, NBC and Channel 65, E! both broadcasted the winners via their entertainment hosts. That just didn't fly with me at all!

I found it difficult to enjoy the reading of the announcements without all the fanfare of the actors/actresses going on stage, making their speeches, possibly flubbing their speeches and doing or saying something outrageous!

I also missed seeing them decked out in their finest borrowed goods! I know, I'm so materialistic! But hey, I enjoy the whole affair!

I'm an avid TV & movie viewer. I love to watch my favorite programs and movies! I am already having withdrawal symptoms with Heroes and Pushing Daisies and Chuck not being on as they usually are. Not to forget Smallville and a few others television series I really enjoy watching. There are story-lines that needs to be continued and it's really maddening to realise that those series won't be back too soon!

While some programs do have a few more new shows, thank heavens, if the writers don't get back to their jobs soon, then those will also be in the same both.

I guess we should be happy for Reality TV and those lifestyle programs on basic cable. I do realise that the writers are only trying to get paid for the work that they do from the producers and mega network companies who are getting paid riding their coat tails, and I applaud them for sticking to their guns. But I guess those producers and CEOs don't think enough of their viewing audience to put an end to the strike.

It will be up to us to show how much we care about any of these programs, if we decide to wait patiently or move on to the next favorite thing!

I hate reality shows. they lack the development that you get from a good well-scripted and nicely directed show.

It's already to late to salvage this season. Let's just pray it ends soon and saves us from more reality shows in the season to come.

I agree. Some I enjoy, Project Runway, Top Chef, Miami Ink, others are just a cesspool! You're right, the season is almost over isn't it?! Darn it, I really wanted to see the rest of Heroes and Chuck!

I'm just glad to have A(The) Daily Show and The Colbert Report back on.  It's not as great as usual...but they're trying and it's not horrible.

I'm not a big fan of reality TV^ and would love to have good quality scripted shows back on the tube as quickly as possible, but I have to say I could not care less about the loss of any of the award shows that might be missed because of the writers strike.

While I appreciate that the best and brightest are awarded for their efforts, WE don't need several hours of the most boring programming known to man (and woman) to tell us who won only to cut them off after they have had their 38 seconds* of air time to thank the world, their parents, their lovers, their spouses, the gods, or whomever.

*time estimate only. Not necessarily actual time alloted, but probably not far from the truth and actual allotment that is typically given.

Anyway, to me losing the awards shows is a good thing.  They are typically filled with interpretive performances, stupid monologues by the hosts, introductions that ramble and are inane, and just plain waste time for the viewers.  Pick the winners, put out a press release celebrating the winners, and move on.

As to other TV programming, yes, please lets get back to programs like Chuck, Reaper, Heroes, and others.  But then again those will come back in the future once the strike is settled.

^I will say that I am jonesing to see the trash that will be The Moment of Truth as it looks deliciously decadent, and I do enjoy some of the game show programming such as Deal or No Deal, or Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?.  For what those game shows are, they are entertaining and make good background noise while I play video-games on my Xbox 360 or surf the interweb.

Come back, Pushing Daisies! Come back to me!

The longer it goes on the more unbearable it becomes.  My favorite show right now is Project Runway so I have Wednesdays covered and wouldn't you know that they are going to have new Reno 911's on at the same time.  Ach.  A new season of Battlestar Gallatica will be starting in the spring too.  There are some good original shows on cable.  I love Psych and they just started showing new shows.  Madmen on AMC was fabulous.  I think they are showing reruns of that show.

While I can't stand awards shows of any sort, I understand what you are saying. I don't mind Survivor or Great Race when they're doing the challenges. I also enjoy shows like American Hotrod, when they're not arguing and American Chopper, when they're not arguing. I have yet to see Miami Ink and, being a big tattoo fan, I've been told I'd enjoy it. Most other reality shows are rubbish, as far as I'm concerned.

I do hope the strike ends soon as I don't want some of my favourite shows to suffer because of it. Well actually, the only show I'm concerned about is Heroes. If it suffers, there will be hell to pay.

Hey, speak for yourself! Some of us love that kind of stuff!

Pick the winners, put out a press release celebrating the winners, and move on.

Which is basically what they had to do last night!

Deal or No Deal, or Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?.

I tune in sometimes, but I also tune out because people's greed, very irritating!

Come back, Pushing Daisies! Come back to me!

From your lips to the writers ears!

Exactly! The good thing for me anyway, is that there are some shows that were not yet shown where there are new story lines, the question is, how many new shows do they have left?

A new season of Battlestar Gallatica will be starting in the spring too. There are some good original shows on cable. I love Psych and they just started showing new shows.

I think it started here last week. I missed it but plan to tune in this week! There are some great original movies on cable, a few have been keeping me entertained but I still want my network TV!

I have yet to see Miami Ink and, being a big tattoo fan, I've been told I'd enjoy it.

Oh you certainly would! There's a London one now and also LA Ink, but they just don't appeal to me, Miami Ink, much better.

Well actually, the only show I'm concerned about is Heroes. If it suffers, there will be hell to pay.

I guess you get it later than we do? I won't say the last one I saw just in case it spoils it for you, but man I can't wait for it to be back!

I won't say the last one I saw just in case it spoils it for you,

We've only just seen Season 1 here and I know we're behind. So, what are you up to, Season 3?

halfway through season 2, actually . . .

You'd think that the writer's strike would help people limit their TV watching... but I'd guess most people just flip through the channels anyway...

Go buy a boardgame and play that instead.

Since when do YOU watch Heroes?

Oh...wait. Kristen Bell is on it now, isn't she?

I take it back, my bad.

Still haven't gotten into it yet. (Dexter is my current poison.)

But that doesn't mean I don't know where they are . . . and Kristen Bell is a severe hottie.

Only if you send one to me!

! I think it's safe to say we can predict that one!

Hmmm, today is National Stalking Awareness Day isn't it?! !
