I watched a music video today by Martina McBride and was really moved. She was singing her song, one I've come to like, "Where would you be"?

In the video she was on the streets of New York with a over sized sketchpad, telling people she's doing a documentary and asking them "What do you wish for"? Some people were taken aback by the question, I guess it is not one they are asked often, much less to share publicly.

What I noticed was that about 90 percent of the people wish for changes in our world, and not make a personal wish for themselves. I thought that was such a selfless and meaningful act!

It showed how many people are concerned with the world they live in and the legacy we will leave for our children. We all care about our world and what our environment will be like in the future. We all want world peace. We all want everyone to respect each other. We all want to be safe and to have love for ourselves and each other.

Some people might look at these wishes as wishful thinking, perhaps even idealistic dreaming. Perhaps they are, but I think it is a wonderful thing that so many people are so hopeful for our world and our future. That says a lot about us all!

I don't want to be cynical, but do think the camera in their faces might have had something to do with what they wished for? Most people don't want to be viewed as selfish when, realistically, we are, in one way or another. Without the camera, I think the wishes might have been a lot different.

Don't get me wrong, though, I'm an eternal optimist and have the utmost faith in humanity. I do hope you're right.

I know you're not, don't worry! But I would think the same way if there were the few who did wish for personal things like, money, being rich, big screen tv, and other stuff I can't remember. Oh and she said to them this is for a documentary, what do you wish for and most of them asked if they could write anything, so I knew there was nothing scripted and that they were genuine.

And not to say the people of NY aren't into country music, but she looked just like a regular city person walking on the street and not the country star she is!

Ditto on that too Mark, ditto on that!
