Rise of the Real People/Newsweek Culture
Newsweek.com featured an article written by Jennie Yabroff (to be featured in their February 4 issue), "Rise of the Real People", real people who are being asked to "strut their stuff", bucking the trend of skinny models and those uber thin ones too on the catwalk and in magazines; modeling for photographers who believe that the time has come for real people to be featured in the media.
See that lovely voluptuous woman there, walking with confidence showing off her very curvy figure? Yep, this is her time now! Finally, models that look like you and me (or your wife)! They have big thighs, curvy hips, even a rump to boot! There's nothing wrong with someone who is slender and who will look gorgeous in anything, but we the general consumers are getting tired of seeing models who we all would have to stop eating for a year and suck on lemons to look like!
This trend is not only for the women, men too! Yep, you Joe-smo out there, bearded, maybe a little girt, as long as you keep yourself looking decent, someone might just snap a photo of you (with permission of course!) and feature on one of those trendy blogs or magazines the fashionistas out there read at leisure!
