"This is not Spam"
Published on October 6, 2004 By foreverserenity In Internet
Each day when I open my email I notice my bulk folder is usually filled to the brim with junk mail. Sometimes I think to myself, how in heavens name did I get all this junk email. Some are ads, some are requests, and some actually are begging me to sign up for one thing or the other. When I scroll down and look at each message (that is, if I do open them) it says that this is not spam, I am receiving this message because I am affiliated with some other affiliate? I mean, who are they kidding? Mind you there are times when there are some interesting emails in the Bulk Folder but other times I just don't want to be bothered. It's just like being at home and getting a phone call from a sales person trying to sell you something. It's annoying to say the least. If you so much as look at someone's Website you get targeted for Spam emails. I think this is outrageous and should not be allowed to happen. You can set your computer so that you don't get cookies attached to your hardrive or something like that. I tried that once, I couldn't get on anyone's Website so had to change it back!

I recently read where Microsoft is trying to come up with "Caller-ID for Email". Or maybe it's been developed already? It's just like the telephone caller ID but for emails, this way you can confirm that you are getting email message from someone you actually know or do business with or the sender of the email you are reading is actually the sender - Whew! I think it is a fabulous idea. There's also now a CAN-SPAM Act passed by the federal government and although I'm not too familiar with all the details of that Act, it doesn't seem like it's working. I try to go in and weed out the junk from my Bulk folder everyday. At other times, I empty it with disgust cause I just can't be bothered. Yes, I do set up my email so that people I want to hear from actually go to my InBox. There are times when they don't though, hence me weeding through. I guess until there's a much better way of getting rid of these Spammers I'll just keep emptying my folder automatically.
