I read this article today on MSN's MoneyCentral.msn.com. The one thing that ran through my mind ad I read it was, are they suggesting that America's problems is because of fat people? So maybe I'm being a bit sensitive. After all, I fall into the category of the 66% overweight people. I admit it and there is no shame in it! I'm actively working on that situation I'm even prouder to say!
According to Shirley Skeel, the author of the piece I read, if there were no fat people in America we would save billions of dollars on health care, gas, airlines and diseases such as diabetes would be non-existent! I have to agree with her on that reasoning!
She suggested that the one thing that would happen if there were no fat people in America is there would be a lot of doctors out in the street, looking for work! They would be...really? That would probably go for pharmacists and anyone in the healthcare industry I guess. Unless of course they came up with reasons for us needing them, like say, all the wave of health-craze stuff going on now! I'm sure they would be gainfully employed!
Not only that, but the fast food chains would have to offer more healthier variety of foods (this we agreed on!), as they are forced to now, because we are getting more health conscious and focusing on our bodies! So you see Ms. Skeel, all the fast food chains would definitely be better off in the long run and knowing our appetites, business would be booming for them anyway!
Overall I'm in total agreement with the article. The many people who usually would be spending a lot of money on medications and other necessities because of being fat and in not so good health, they would reap the rewards of monies they would be spending on themselves for much more indulgent reasons! I guess that's our cue to get with the "slim is in" program America! I prefer to look at it as "Fit is in"!
