Life as I Know It; Family; Lifestyle; and Healthy Living!

By now the entire world has heard the biggest upset in Horse Racing history!  I normally am not interested in horse racing, I love the animals but have never ridden one.  He's not a gambler when it comes to that type of sport (it is a sport right?) but my hubby loves them and he enjoys following the races now and again and have worked with horses in a previous life!

These television people really knows how to drag things out, first the race was supposed to be shown live at 3pm, then that 3pm turned into 5pm, and at 5pm, still no racing!  The amount of commercial and crap that goes on in between just so they can make money is appalling!  I had to get that off my chest, because we had to wait a long while for my hubby to tear himself away from the television set on Saturday!

Anyway, the race started, Big Brown was running well, and then all of a sudden here comes another horse, Da'Tara, stealing his thunder?!!!!  How did that happen?  Well, that's the gazillion dollar question that is being asked around the racing circle!!!!

The Veterinarians have been interviewed, the owners, the jockey, just about everyone and/or anything that had anything to do with Big Brown!  Now he's lost his favor and has sank to an all time loss.  The poor horse!

My hubby said it's a fix.  When they showed the replay of the horses coming around the bend, that pivotal point where Big Brown would get into his own and take off into that stretch, as he has done before, it didn't happen!  Why, was my wonder?  My hubby pointed out to me, "see what they did"?  I said "No."  They, the other jockeys, hustled him, used their horses to block Big Brown, jostled him and throw him off!  That gave the other horse, Da'Tara free reign to take over and win the race!

I looked at him and said, "What?!!"  He nodded his head knowingly. he's seen it happened before, having been around the race track and dealt with horses, in Jamaica.  The jockeys did it!  You can't see it from the distance, but the replay of the tape from behind, you could see when it happened!  Wow!    The bums, they didn't want him to win?!

Big Brown wasn't hurt, ill or in any way incapacitated (thank heavens) but for sure, something hindered him, and I'm agreeing with my hubby on this one!

Now the newshounds are on his tail, and the poor horse has lost favor with the masses!  Not with me though, if you were my horsey Big Brown, you would still get your carrots and I would give you a big horsey hug!

Big Brown was a beautiful horse on Friday. He was a beautiful horse on Sunday. He had a bad day on Saturday...but he was beautiful then, too. Horses are funny people. They are immature and tempermental...but boy can they run...when they want to. Something put him off...at one point you can see him arguing with the jockey over which way to go. Lots of people lost a lot of money...just a few won a BUNCH...go figure.

I'm with BFD I think something put him off. You could see the difference in just his head movement alone.

But the way sports is nowadays would it surprise anyone if it was a set-up or if it was fixed.

BTW .. Not that it matters since I didn't bet any money but I told Rose before the race that Da' Tara was going to win. I just had a hunch. Too bad I wasn't at some track and actually bet it though. I usually do bet the Triple Crown races and the Breeder's Cup.

I missed that!  Poor baby, he probably wasn't up to it!  Or....maybe he sensed the change in the air....dum, dum, dummmmmmm!

Oh boy!  You would have had a nice pay day!  Maybe it's a good thing you weren't close enough to bet, you would have gotten some "hmmmm....I wonder if...." looks!  [talking out of my horses behind here!]
