We all know the realities each of face each and every day. We have to take care of the basics first, rent or mortgage, utilities, food, other payments...and maybe fun?! Regardless of the difficulties that is going on in most people's lives, they are still making time for fun with the family!
If my neighborhood is anything to go by, I would say yes! Take us for example, we have managed to see a few movies this summer, have an eat out here and there, despite everything that is going on around us. We try to make time to do something together. Sometimes it costs, sometimes it doesn't, like going to the local library, borrowing movies, books, using the Internet, although we have it at home. Riding our bikes together, most evenings you can see us in the neighborhood having fun on our bikes, unless it rains. Going off to the pool, just spending time together.
Last weekend we decided to go ahead with a planned trip to one of the local attractions in our area, and man was it worth it! I managed to have some discount coupons ahead of time, and I really wanted to bring some food inside but we couldn't because they were searching bags, so we had to buy food there. The park was filled with a lot of locals and tourists alike. It was a fun day for our family and a nice way to unwind!
I've not seen the new Batman movie yet, and would like to but won't because of the sell out tickets, that and my daughter Amanda being scared of the Joker!
People are still driving around in their SUVs and big trucks, although many have given them up, some people are hanging on to theirs. I guess if you can plan it, despite the gas hike, why not uh?! I still wouldn't be able to do it!
I had a neighbor come up to me and told me she lost her job. Though that didn't happen because of the economy. She said she has been looking and hasn't found any. I think she's lying though. We told her about a position, despite hiring freezes, that she could go for, but she felt the job was beneath her so she wasn't applying. Yes, and you're having money problems? I guess not!
I can't fathom people who won't go after anything if they really need the money until they can get what they really want, what is wrong with that?
It's hard to keep money in your wallet these days. Many times it seems that emergencies often happen out of the blues, a lot more now than before!
I think we can whether this storm (the USA), I really pray that we do. I"m not freaking out...yet! How about you?
