Life as I Know It; Family; Lifestyle; and Healthy Living!

I'm having a difficult time with technology today!  I bought a new camera that was on sale,  great price, $59.00, a Cobra DC8000!  I figured as my first official digital camera, it can't be all that bad.  It has lots of great features and definitely what I'm looking for in something less complicated!

It takes great pictures, that is a plus.  I plugged it in to my computer, seems ok, turned on and everything. I put the software disk into my CD drive, nothing happening!  I don't know what is wrong!  The drive lights up, blinks for a couple of minutes and then nothing!  I've tried everything.  So either it is the CD drive E witha problem, or the disk is a problem!

I've been on Cobra's website to see if they had a downloadable software, nothing!  How frustrating!  So before I walk my frustration back to the store, I'm going to give it a chance...I contacted the company's tech support and am now waiting to hear from them.  That's my first step! Then I'll take it to work on Monday, to see if the problem is my CD ROM drive.  Although, I'm able to play music and other programs load OK, so I don't think that is the problem!

I've always wanted a digital scale and since the store was having a major sale, those were up for grabs as well!  So I purchase a Health O Metre scale.  Does the whole works!  YOu can program up to four people in the system, put your weight loss goals, it keeps track of that, how much you gain or lose, your body fat and your hydration!  Fantastic!  I set it up, so far with my hubby's and mine info.  It seemed OK at first, however whenever we go on to weight ourselves, there is an error message. I am constantly resetting and re-inputting the information, but it gives the same problems!  ARgggggh!

Pain in the ass technology!!!!  I hate returning things but if nothing works....back to the drawing board!

I have a health o meter scale, sounds like the same one as yours. It worked GREAT for a while, but something about the move messed it up and now I always get an E.

Sorry about the digital cam!

Hmm, the bumping probably did it!  I think I'm going to return mine.  Yes, the camera...wah!  My hubby said it probably wasn't worth it since it was so cheap.  I told him I'm buying it anyway!

FS..technology is a pain and it's really no fun when it doesn't work. I hope it all gets fixed so we can see some pictures!

Can you open "My Computer" and see your CD drive and open it?

Can you open "My Computer" and see your CD drive and open it?

No.  For some reason when I log in with my password, I have no access to the E drive!  When I log in through my son's, it activates!  So it is not the CD. I can't understand why I don't have access to the E drive from my end though?

HOme edition or Professional?

It's professional.  The computer I'm using at home (at least the main one in the LR with the Internet is a loaner from work since I bring work home from time to time, I have the priviledge of having a computer for home use, but the internet comes out of my pocket.  The software is there's though, although registered to me for work.

So you are not a local admin?

Can you get local admin priveleges? The problem (hopefully) is in the local polices (or Group Policies - which you can do nothing about). If the problem is local policies, you just need to log in as a local admin, and add your account to those that can access, format, and load data from ejectable media.
