Life as I Know It; Family; Lifestyle; and Healthy Living!

I have always wanted to take CPR but  have never gotten around to it, all these years.  Ever since giving birth, I was always afraid of not being prepared were something to happen that would require me to give my child/children mouth to mouth, thank heavens, knock on wood...nothing!

I am able to take the class because of work and jumped at the opportunity.  My son did a class this week via his high school and that is good that they offer that!  I had forgotten that my eldest, Jessica did do it through high school too.

I have an idea of how to do it, but being taught the techniques professionally is always better!  My class is  next week and I'm looking forward to it!

It is a very good thing to know those life-saving techniques.  Also, not being certified can have undesirable consequences if something goes wrong while you are trying to save a person's life.  I've gone through certification and retraining a couple of times myself.  Great job in seeking that certification because you never know when you'll need to be prepared to react.

Yes, the old "sue em" attitude is a risk factor!  Hopefully it never comes to that!lol But it will be mostly for my own familie's needs, or friends, if it ever is needed.  I will see what certification is all about when I take the class.

I have taken the class several times.  It is required for home daycare providers.  I have never had to use it but I hope that it will come back to me if I'm ever in that situation.  Really, I probably am overdue to renew it.  I will have to peek at my card.  I think the Red Cross one is good for two years and the AHA is good for three.  I think it's been longer than that.  I think it is always best to be prepared.

Arizona has a "Good Samaritan" law that protects you if you mess up.

I had to cancel my class due to an emergency....I'm too angry to talk about it now, but I plan to take the class at another opportunity.

Bummer

Often the classes are methods for physical practice and emphasis of proper procedures.  Knowing the steps is just part of that which you could even check out whenever you have time; there is plenty of literature available. Hope everything is alright after the emergency, foreverserenity.

I'll check that out.  We survived the emergency...just a lot of thinking about things right now.   Thx Kurtin.

I found my CPR training to be informative, but there are so many steps to remember.  I am just afraid that I would miss something major during an emergency!

That is a natural worry.  I  hope to take the class and will see when I do.

Like every new skill/technique picked up, it's regular practice after the first time you learnt it and visible reminders (like free posters that have the steps illustrated) that help you to remember the correct way do it. Just make sure to take the course again every 2-3 years if you can to refresh yourself.
