Life as I Know It; Family; Lifestyle; and Healthy Living!

I recently had a tetanus shot given to me during my recent check up because my doctor realised that it's been more than 10 years since my last shot. So just in case of any accidents etc., having a boost was good for me!

I can have a booster shot in my doctor's office, in comfort, even though I probably didn't need it. There are little children, and women globally who are dying because they can't afford to get one of those shots!

Nightline featured Salma Hayek, who has become a spokesperson for UNICEF and the Proctor and Gamble company who are currently in Africa and Asia giving moms and young children the tetanus shot for free.  For these people globally, a shot costs approximatelyseven cents, just seven cents.  So Proctor and Gamble who sells the Pampers brand diapers have done something ingenious.

They have created the "One Pack = One Vaccine" campaign.  There are specially marked diaper packages that when purchased, between April 1 and June 30, 2009, money from that sale will go towards one child or mom to receive the tetanus vaccine!

So  mark the dates, April 1 - June 30, if you happen to be in the store, go ahead, buy a Pampers brand (they will be specially marked) and even if you don't need it, donate it to someone who does! (a shelter or a daycare)

You will be saving one baby who dies from this every three minutes, and 30,000 mothers every year!
