It's that time again
Published on December 29, 2004 By foreverserenity In Blogging
It's that time again, time to make resolutions, make promises that won't be kept or be completely broken. Ah yes, you know it, the New Year's Resolution. It will be the talk of all media network for the entire month of January and possibly two weeks in February.

It is said that time when people make a New Year's resolution, the plan only lasts for about two weeks and then it's gone, lost. People just lose their focus. The promises to lose weight, start exercising, saving money, start a business; anything that is planned, gets lost on (I'll call it) the "New Year's Resolution Highway".

But why make an impossible resolution that you know you won't keep? Or, here's one better. How about making a resolution that you can modify as you go along. Sounds too lame? Ok, let's see. How about not making a resolution at all, just go with the flow of your life? Hey, there's no fun in that! How boring, nothing to actually look forward to, no challenge to enjoy. There's no fun in not participating now is there?

I have an idea, how about making a resolution, only one, not two or three. And, make it simple, not some impossible plan that you won't stick with. Write it down. That's it, put your plan of action on paper. This might help you to stick with it, or should that be, stick to it? Whatever, just make a plan, write it down, and stick to it. There, that's it. Nothing else. And, if you happen to fall off the ladder, just get up, dust yourself off, and continue with your plans. Ok, so you might want to beat yourself up a bit, go head, if it makes you feel better. Then continue with your plan.

You see, no matter what, you will somehow lose track and stray from your goal; life happens, your life. You will be busy with work, family, kids, wife, husband, significant other, hobby, dreams, Xbox, PC, blogging, whatever. You'll even be too tired to be bothered. But don't stop there, just continue on and visualize that which you are striving for, and you will do it.

Oh, er, I forgot one thing, I didn't share my New Year's resolution with you...I will no longer be a couch potatoe!

In general terms, and I'm putting it in general terms because that statement will be shaped and molded to fit every bit of my personal life, every aspect I tell ya, and boy does my life need shaping and molding! "I am clay, mold me now" (think, "I am woman, hear me roar." OK, getting carried away again...no really.

I will no longer be a couch potatoe, looking at my life from the couch. Watching the clutter grow around me; indulging in too much food, getting fat; screaming at my kids to get their attention; pulling my hair out when they don't do as I say; getting mad at my husband when he doesn't listen to me and do exactly the opposite of what I said; to name a few (Disclaimer: this in no way implies that I'm lazy, a fat slob, or anything else). I will no longer sit down and watch life pass me by, day by day just lolling about while plans that I made go drifting by.

Nope, new year, new plan, new me. I will write all my goals down and I will stick to the plan. The most important part of the "no more couch potatoe" plan is to get this bod (bod, not body!) into shape. I've indulged and over indulged for a while now. So, I'm going to do something about that starting Monday, Janaury 3, 2005. Yes, on the third day. Hey, I'll have to celebrate too.

So, I'm going to be off for a couple of days and I'm going to use that time to create my plan of action. I'll share my plan of action and how I'm doing with you. And it will be for my own benefit too to journal it, so this is not an attempt to bore you or gain points.

So my fellow Joe Users and anyone else reading this, have a wonderful and a Happy New Year! <

wonderfully written, and wonderfully thought out.

There really IZ no fun in no participating, I think that's why we continue to do it.
