I’ve been exercising fully now for, gosh, this is embarrassing but I’ve not really been keeping track of the date since I really began, but I would say about 3 months now. That’s of really working out one hour five days a week. However, I’ve started on my new way of thinking and exercising since the year began. I’ve not been to the gym I usually go to in the last four - five weeks because I’ve began to utilize a different way of working out.
Namely I exercise in the mornings now instead of in the evenings after work. I find that I get more out of my workout and it gives me boundless energy to begin my day. Plus it’s the time that I spend with my older daughter who works out with me for the first 20 – 30 mins of my workout and then I continue to workout for at least another 30 mins.
It’s also my time, and I treasure that. My husband, son and toddler are sleeping and I have time to myself to do as I want after working out. Then I put the kettle on and make preparations for the day. I love “me” time!
My workout consists of a morning power walk/jog fest with my teenage daughter. Noticed I put power walk/jog fest…well, she mostly jog and I do the power walk and when I’m up to it, I jog! I had a major accomplishment a week ago, I jogged for two cycles (1 cycle = 1 length around our complex)! We both celebrated that one, LOL! Mommy actually jogged for a while there, it felt good too! Since she’s attending summer school (this week is the last week of it for her), we can’t go longer than 30 mins so that she can get back home, shower and all that. When we do get back, I turn to the Oxygen Network where the Yoga program is going on and I do my own exercises which consists of jump roping, free weights, and floor exercises for 30 mins. I usually cool down by doing some yoga moves.
On other days I put the Core Secrets DVD in and workout with my ball and the free weights. Those exercises are sooooo good, I strongly recommend them. What I like is that you utilize every part of your body and I work up a good sweat by the time I’m done! I also use a “Performance” machine that I have had for a couple of years now. It’s what they call a “Glider” now and I think that it even has another name now! You put your feet on the steps and swing back and forth…great workout for thighs and hips! Plus it’s good for the waist too.
So with all these different assortment of workout activities, my workout is never boring and it’s becoming pretty effective too. I see my clothes fitting a lot better now (not that they didn’t fit before, LOL!), but there’s more room in them and I see my body changing shape (I might actually be morphing!) to become a lot fitter looking than I have been in the last three and a half years!
My stomach is a lot firmer and so’s my derriere! I have a lot of weight to lose, more than 50 pounds and I’m not giving up. I’m staying the course because I have to for my own sake and no one else.
