A trip down memory lane

Some people want to forget that there was a Disco era.

And who can forget that those years were the time of drugs and sex! (that’s possibly why some people want to forget too!) While I personally didn’t get into the drug habits or have wild sex with Tom, Dick, Harry or Susan…it was all around me, at the clubs, the music studios where I used to hang out and anywhere people were having a good time.

Two reasons why I loved those years were because it was kind of a time of liberation for me. I could date (finally!) and when I wasn’t dating I spent a lot of time with a group of people who were a lot of fun to be around. We were a pretty diverse group of guys and gals from all over the world.

And especially because of the music! The Bee Gees, Abba, Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Blondie, The Village People…those were some of the music I used to love listening to and still to from time to time!

I also loved to dance (but my baby just love to dance, yeah, yeah) sorry…that song just popped into my head! LOL!

The day the music died though was a sad time indeed. Although when Disco died it was the birth of Rap music – old school rap that is..the Sugarhill gang, Run DMC, Kool Mo Dee to name a few.

Those Disco years were the best though….yes they were..."we gonna boogie til we just can't boogie no more...".

The only part I liked about "the disco era" was taking an active part in "The disco Sucks" era! ;~D

Yeah, I was one of those Rock & Rollers who trashed disco every chance I could. I even went to one of those "Disco Sucks" rallies where we through disco albums like frisbies and burned Donna Summer posters in effigy. I think we had just as much fun loving to hate disco as you "Disco Ducks" had loving it!! ;~D

I thought this was going to be about the day Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper died in a plane crash... that was the day the music died for me

Oh you.....so you;re one of those are you....[runs far away using fingers to show the cross sign]

You know I never really understood why you "rock & rollers" were such pains in the ass about it! Possibly because rock was getting boring and there were too many happy people around,! Yea for Disco! Long may she rest and forever lives in our hearts! Chants to Ted...Y-M-C-A!

Ahhh...I see you were one of those people lurking at the club! I know what you mean though...those were some freaky times and some very freaky people! While my Disco era was spent in Jamaica even there it was far out!

Because disco is simplistic.

Because disco is simplistic.

Define for me. Simplistic could mean a number of things! (don't need to put you on the spot just tryig to understand!)

Disco is still better than the crap being paraded around as music today.

My kids (and the kids in the church youth group) can't believe that I lived through the whole original Disco Era and never once did the YMCA Dance! ;~D

It doesn't require very much musical talent.

Disco is still better than the crap being paraded around as music today.

I assume you mean rap, and I agree, but disco isn't much better.

And rock music isn't? C'mon, I've been a performing rock musician for the last 20 odd years and it sure aint rocket science. I too was one of those 'Disco Sucks' people, until I realised the girls really liked guys who liked dance music. So I lived in the best of both worlds, loving my Cheap Trick, Aerosmith, Kiss and Zepplin while dancing my ass off to the disco hits. Ahh, those were the days...

Hahaha....I even had my kids doing it recently! They taught it was a lot of fun! So you see...Disco makes people very happy!!

NOT! we can do this all day big brother teasing little sister,!

Well it might seem that it doesn't but it actually does. If the music and the words are not appealing it will not sell! So yes, talent definately needed!

I'm gonna say it again....NOT! nananananaaaaa.... : ) <<<

Serenity,

Look what you started playing in my head...

"Bus stop, do the bus stop, are you ready, do the bus stop...

Arrrghh, I'm going to have to go listen to something, anything else just to get this song out of my head.

Thanks for the memories.

Cheers,

Maso
