on dirt & grime....will it ever end?
How quickly the dirt and grime appears in your home no matter how often you clean. I don’t clean everyday. I’ll pick up the toys and other stuff littered throughout the apartment by my daughter after she’s gone to bed every night, seven days a week.
My oldest girl does the dishes Sunday to Thursday while I do them on the other nights. I do laundry once a week on Sundays, although my hubby washes every day, yes, everyday.
I clean every where once a week, vacuum carpet, clean bathroom (my older daughter takes care of the one they use), the kitchen, the floors, and dusting. We live in a four bed room home. I sometimes have to take it one room at a time. Gosh there’s so much clutter to get rid of! I won’t even venture to discuss the closet my mom used to use. I haven’t faced that yet.
But once a month I do a deep cleaning. I scrub from top to bottom, rearrange everything, toss anything I find that is out of place or is worn out, do what my mother called cob-webbing; that is running the broom or a long duster, from corner to corner on the ceiling of each room and in all the corners to get rid of those pesky cobwebs. I take every piece of picture frames and figurines I have and dust them.
Yet every week at the end of the week when the mad rush to get up and go to work and school is over, what do I find? You got it, dust, more dust and the messy stove in the kitchen (we cook almost everyday). The shower, kitchen, walls…the dust and grime builds up that quickly!
I’m seriously thinking about hiring a cleaning service to come in and do that deep clean once a month. Sometimes there are times when I want to spend an entire Saturday with my kids, having fun and doing things they love, (and sometimes I do) instead I take up most of the day cleaning and then we go to the library for one or two hours, sometimes three hours of what is left of the day and then we go grocery shopping. Unless we have something planned before hand like going to see a show or attending an event, then I won’t spend the entire day cleaning.
Yep, getting someone else to do that deep cleaning might just be worth it!
