I love Steel Magnolias...dunno exactly why, but I do. I also love some of ther others that have already been mentioned: Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail, Muriel's Wedding, A League of Their Own, Like Water for Chocolate...and so forth.

Pride and Prejudice (from A&E), made me develop a crush on Colin Firth, btw.

Also, don't know if Sixteen Candles is considered a chick flick, but it's my favorite movie ever (so many memories with it).

If Casablanca is considered a 'chick flick' then that's my favorite. I also like 'It Happened One Night' and 'When Harry Met Sally'.

Some channel just did the 50 Best Chick Flicks of all-time. 'Beaches' was number one. I never seen that one.

At the risk of being kicked out of the guy club like Parated I not only seen 'Like Water For Chocolate' and "Fried Green Tomatoes" but I read the books.

Another chick flick I like to see a scene from is 'Dirty Dancing'. I crack up every time I see the "Nobody puts Baby in the corner" scene.

Oh yes, Love Actually is good! And I did enjoy How to Lose a Guy. I haven't seen Just Like Heaven yet though!

Now, don't yell at me, ......but I have yet to see Pretty Woman or even Sleepless in Seattle! I get a lot of flak for this, but I think I was just too young when these were popular, and never got around to renting or catching them on T.V. yet, although I have been seeing Pretty Woman commercials on TBS lately Maybe I'll catch it this weekend.

Don't worry, I won't yell. Just get thee to the movie rental or tune in to see it on TBS. You're right, they have been showing Pretty Woman this weekend. They had back-to-back Julia Roberts movies.

I like Musicals too Loca! ANd these are some great choices, I've seen them all. I especially liked Emma and Chocolat! Muriel's Wedding is a hoot especially the part when they dressed up and sang Abba songs, my fav scene!

I've never seen waiting to exhale or how stella got her groove back.

Oh you should rent those immediately and watch them. They both starred Angela Bassett (I probably spelt her last name wrong); She's a black actress who has been in some great films. The first one is a revenge type because her husband left her for another woman-for every woman that has been cheated on and scorned, that's the movie to watch! The second is about love between an older woman and a younger man. They met in Jamaica and it's really a nice story. It also starred Whoopi Goldberg. One of them is supposed to be semi-autobiographical, the writer's story.

I've seen some of these Icono. Working Girl I enjoyed a lot and Erin Brokovich. Practical Magic was with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, right? I liked that one!

But to answer Forever's question. Ok, how many people died? How much blood? What about the hero dying to save his love? Do any chick flicks have these ingredients? I think not. They are all about emotions and smooching and that stuff. As Henry says (sorry Dharma), "Why cant we just play catch?"Guy films are about cliffhangers and nail biting action! Chick flicks are about love and smooching and touchy feely. And no real man (other than Ted) would ever admit to liking them.

That's why Guy flicks will always be guy flicks with all the blood and the gore! Although some of us chicks do enjoy seeing those movies sometimes!

Hey, leave Ted alone, at least he has a 'feminine' side and there's nothing wrong with that!

Em these are good choices too! 50 first dates was fun to watch and the Wedding Singer was funny and enjoyable too! You're right, anything with Drew Barrymore (and Adam Sandler) is good too!
