So far, I've bought my turkey, this year it is a 22 pounder which I got for a $1 a pound - it must be since it cost $22!  I've also bought my ham. I wasn't going to do ham until Christmas, but when a pregnant daughter asks for ham, you give her ham! I kind of have an idea of what I'm cooking but not quite, if you know what I mean?  I do know I will have the basic, Turkey, Ham, Pototo Salad, Stuffing, Pies, and a vegetable dish, but nothing quite define as to the style or type of ...

This was lunch for today.  Some of us decided to sample each others cooking for lunch today.  I cooked Jerked Chicken, Thomas cooked Meatloaf and Christy did Mashed Potatoes and the decadent dessert!  We plan to do it again next week!

Pinch me, I must be dreaming! Say it isn’t so because I can’t believe that next week IS Thanksgiving?! I knew it was ‘around the corner’, the days have been ‘flying’ by, but this is ridiculous! I’ve thought about what I’m going to cook but haven’t really given the thoughts much detail yet. I know I’m doing turkey; after all, it is turkey day, it’s a honorary custom that we do have turkey on Thanksgiving. You know some people don’t do turkey; they’ll do some other meats? At m...

There was a time when pizza was done just one way, regular, seasoned according to some secret recipe, the more secret the better the pizza, and enjoyed with every finger-lickin enjoyment. These days there are so many different variety, there seems to be a new type invented every month! Now there are thick, or thin or stuffed crust. There are also the 'quadrillion' diffent toppings that you can have on your pizza, as well as the different combinations! Robin Kleven Dishon in...

Oh my goodness! I have to tell you how delicious that recipe of Whip's is! I followed her Sweet Potato, Pecan, & Coconut Casserole recipe to the 'letter' and man oh man, the preparation was so good you could eat it without putting it in the oven! My 5 y.o., who was helping me to do that particular dish, licked so many spoons in the course of mashing and mixing, I had to have her throw each licked spoon in the sink so as not to 'contaminate' the dish! If you're interested in the r...

I didn't get the chance to show the results of my cooking Thanksgiving dinner. There are only six pictures taken with a cell phone camera so they are a little fuzzy! The Feast! Not the entire ham, it couldn't fit so I put slices of the pineapple on ham slices in a bowl. The turkey was already being 'hacked' up! Amanda enjoying dinner! This is my hubby's plate, a bit fuzzy! It was packed! Amanda and me before eating. I was caput after cookin...

I feel rather silly because I didn't realise til now and I had the darn thing soaking, which was probably the wrong thing to do! So how do I save this? I've been on line and not getting much detailed help on how to cook, how long to cook, or is it just re-heat? I've patted it dry, seasoned with garlic, black pepper, seasoned salt and stuff with onions because that's how I like it and placed it in the oven at 325 degrees. Is this ok, if not already did it, so too late! Now for th...

Hmmmm, I'm smelling my delicious rice I have cooking right now. My favourite type of rice to cook on Sundays is Rice and Peas, some culture call it something else. For Jamaicans it's Rice and Peas and we make it with any type of peas; red, black, pink, gungu ( I think that has another name you might recognize but I can't remember it right now) or black-eyed. You add a little coconut milk, it comes in the tin (or can as you guys say) and you only need to use a tad of it, too much means too...

I really do love to eat eggs. Even the news that too much of it isn’t good for you does not deter me from eating it. What are they talking about any way? I know, I know, the cholesterol thing. But you know, I don’t really worry about that when I’m enjoying my egg and I don’t eat it too often anyway. I like them boiled, fried, steamed/pouched, and scrambled. My mood often depicts the type of egg I’m going to have. Or maybe that should be the mood of my taste bud! When I was pregn...
