It's that time again for me, getting back in the zone, on the wagon, in the mood for what I know I need to continue to do - working out on a daily basis! It's been super difficult but I am slowly getting myself to do the deed. I've already prepared myself mentally, this is something I have to do or else just doing it won't fly with me. What my brain is asking me to do and what my stomach wants from time to time can be very combative! No I don't sit and eat my life away, but I love to in...
I know it is better to be fit than fat. But would you consider a thin person fit even if they don't exercise at all? Or a fat person fit if they do exercise daily? Or don't you think a fat person can be fit? Especially if this person isn't morbidly obese and does workout everyday, they might not be considered the American ideal, i.e., a size 2 or lets face it a 0! However, what if this person works out everyday religiously and eats a moderate diet without being on a diet, but doesn't...
Fish is good for you, yes it is! The nutrients from fish, the omega-3 fatty acid, put you at a lower risk for heart disease, it is a very good source of protein and it is especially good for pregnant women because she is more likely to have a full-term pregnancy and it helps in the development of the baby! That said however, there are some risks in eating certain types of fishes. Some fishes have lots of toxins and mercury, these are not good for us to ingest. So what is a mom to do ...
In my quest for being healthier and making better choices for me as well as my family, I have been trying some new foods, some pre-packaged, some not. I make sure we eat more fruits and vegetables, that alone is hard to do as my kids are not loving their vegetables! In an effort to counteract that lack of certain nutritious intake, I bought vitamins which they now take daily. I have gotten them used to eating low-fat and sometimes no-sugar items for certain sweets such as ice cream, ice pop...
I've been working out on a regular basis and have not been doing too badly in getting my body toned and dropping a few pounds here or there. I've also had my moments yo-yo-ing within the last two months. It happens though, there are just those moments when you just don't feel like working out, when you want to have that slice of cake or you just want to sit like a log and do nothing! Those are the times when my brain is kind of messed up with worrying about the many minute details in my ...
I keep forgetting to mention this information for those of us who love to walk. A friend of mine told me about mapmyrun.com from Google.com where you can go onto this website, put your address in, and map the route you walk when you go walking for exercise. I did it and I thought it was fantastic to see in detail the route I take when I go walking and even more fascinating for me was how accurate it was in giving me the mileage that I do when I walk! Of course it doesn't take much to im...
I'm trying to get back in that gung ho mood again. I usually start myself off by being careful of what I eat and making sure to eat breakfast. It's a work in progress; me remembering to keep a log and also making the right choices on what to put in my mouth! Hopefully doing this will help me to do both! Food Journal Entry: Breakfast: Cup of Coffee One Egg w/hash browns – one serving Slice of Turkey (cold cut) Whole Wheat Bread – 2 slices Lunch today: Sliced Apples w/ s...
I don't like the word 'diet'. I don't like it because somehow its as if I'm setting myself up for failure when that word comes into play. Lately I have not been doing anything where getting fit is concerned. I was until three weeks ago. Once again I've interrupted the program I worked out for myself. If I had continue I would have been so far ahead of the game! The word diet does make me overly anxious though. Even when I tell myself that I'm not on a diet, and of course I never am, ...
I'm making an effort to make time in order to exercise daily. Before it was at least three times during the week, plus my Power Saturdays. Then three time turned into two, then once, then it was not doing anything for two weeks, until last Saturday. So I'm going to try my darndest to carve out time during my daily activities in order to workout. I'm going to be selfish and take the time for me. As a mom it's not an easy thing to do. During the day at work, it's even harder. However, ...
I missed out on 'me' time and my Power Saturday last week and the week leading up to then I didn't even work out once! The same this week, no workout at all. I have been so busy that I couldn't make time for myself and I was feeling it! So today I made sure I did take some time for me. It wasn't as powerful as I've always done, man you drop the ball and you begin to feel the difference in your body and your movements. I went directly to the gym and worked out for 20 mins on the treadmi...
Today I didn’t go to the gym. Usually when I have my power Saturdays, I get up early while everyone else is sleeping in. I would drop my oldest daughter at work, and then the rest of the morning would be mine. This morning however, was different. My little one was up earlier than usual and she wanted to be with me. I decided that I would go for a walk instead. I knew that since she was tagging along I was prepared to just walk without worrying about speed or anything like that. So...
After a long busy week I looked forward to my two hours of me time! As usual errands called. Then I decided I would walk for a while before going to the gym to work out. It's a beautiful morning so far. Not too hot, and not raining. I didn't do a power walk today. I didn't want to feel too tired to workout at the gym, which is what I believe slows me down sometimes. I still walked with some speed and lots of energy. I walked for 15 minutes and covered a good half mile. I think a...
I almost didn't bother with my Power Saturday today. I was feeling tired last night (Friday night) and had made up my mind that I wasn't going to bother with it today. However, when I woke up, I felt re-energised and didn't want to deny myself my 'me' time! So I ate some oatmeal, had some juice, took a nice shower and got ready to start my day. First I dropped my daughter at work as routine (she's down to weekends only which is better all around!) and then I ran two errands before it w...
I didn't work out yesterday. It was just too crazy a day to do it. So I got up with the intentions this morning to have my Power Saturday! I walked first for 30 mins. By the time I was done I was wet because the day was already hot. It felt good though. I went to the gym and started out as usual in the weights room. I worked with the dumbells and weight balls for a while. Then I went to my favorite machine, the back extender. I then did some more workout focussing on my arms. I ...
On Exercising Yep! Plumb fall off that health kick wagon. All it took was one week of craziness and running around too much. Good grief! I have not exercise for almost one week now and I swear I can feel the fat (or water loss) making a zig zag line for my thighs and my waistline! Although I only write about my Power Saturdays, I've been steadily working out at least four to five times a week. I have not done that all week and I'm feeling a little guilty. I'm just being too ha...
