J….U….server…..s….o…...…s….l….o….w….............t…o…d…a…y…. At least for me. Geech, I’m falling asleep trying to access the site today. Is anyone having the same problem? I guess there must be so many people accessing it today. Just moving from one page to the next is like having cement on your feet. I'm not sure if this should be a forum report or not?
It's day 6 into the new year, although it's only three days into the time I said I would begin my new way of being on January 3. I’ve only taken a tiny step. I guess it might depend on how you look at it, whether it’s tiny or insignificant. Firstly, I’ve cut my eating quantity in half and I’m drinking more water. And I’m feeling it, at least sometimes when I get hungry. Then my friend told me to eat six small meals, it works better that way. I had forgotten about doing it that way, ...
I’ve always been aware of the world of computers, or should I say technology and what it offers, mostly as an end user. I love surfing the net, I even put screen savers with photographs of family members or anyone I like on my PC. I think the term is Skin now? I’m not sure. Correct me if I’m wrong. I know how to use several software programs and how to search the web for information. However, it’s since I became an active participant of blogging at JU that I became even more aware of ...
It's that time again, time to make resolutions, make promises that won't be kept or be completely broken. Ah yes, you know it, the New Year's Resolution. It will be the talk of all media network for the entire month of January and possibly two weeks in February. It is said that time when people make a New Year's resolution, the plan only lasts for about two weeks and then it's gone, lost. People just lose their focus. The promises to lose weight, start exercising, saving money, start ...

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls. 2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. Like fine single-malt scotch, it's rare. In fact, it's even rarer than single-malt scotch. You can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to...
My kids love going to Walmart because it's so much fun for them. They like going to the other stores we shop at too, but Walmart is their absolute favorite. What with all the toys, a fun room to keep little ones occupied (never without supervision of course!), and to actually get a chance to play the latest game on the game consoles they have in the music/game area.....that place is heaven to them! So there we are at our regular Super Walmart shopping for our weekly groceries. Finally ...
I wanted to say more while responding to Little Whip’s blog entitled “Calling All Negroes” . Link She made some good and valid points, and the comments were pretty interesting and some cleverly funny! As someone mentioned in their comments on her blog, (not a quote verbatim), why can’t we (all) be looked on as just a human being? I agree, after all, I'm just a human being, a woman of color, of Caribbean birth (born in Jamaica), and a Naturalized citizen of the good old US of A. ...
Somehow I lost all of my good friends who I used to hang with in high school. We clicked together because we shared the same interests and hated the same things. We weren’t the “popular” girls (I went to an all girl high school), but we were pretty much up there on the school radar. Those were some really fun times One thing I do know is had I remained in my homeland I definitely would have still been friends with them. Because I’m a nurturing person and I nurture my friendships, just ...
Yesterday I wrote a blog about my husband, how funny he was and how he just totally disarms me when I’m in a bad mood. Link . In it I also mentioned that my husband and I sometimes disagree on how we should discipline our children. There are times when I might give them a smack on the bottom or the arm, depending on how severe what they did is. Reiki responded to my blog. He made a comment to the effect that I am abusing my children. His was the first response. When I read this I...
I just realized something that I do quite often without realizing it. I like to "break" people's names down. You know, say the shorter version or in essence create an acronym at times. I do this and never thought of asking, "Hey, do you mind if I call you...?" You know because some people really are quite "touchy" about their names. Ok, I know it's not their real names but they still might be upset that I somehow alter it. I just thought about this when I was responding to a new...
I got this email in honor of my birthday. I thought it was interesting enough to share. Life is a game and it is divided into four quarters: 0-17 years = 1st quarter 18-34 years = 2nd quarter 35-50 years = 3rd quarter and 51-70 years = 4th and final quarter All years after 70 are bonus years. So it's not about the numbers, but how you play the quarter! So live people, live your life to the fullest!
Without realizing it, I’ve already written my 100th blog! I’ve seen so many people celebrate the achievement of their 100th with wit and grace and words of praise. I can only hope to do the same with such panache! Before I reached that milestone, I thought about what I would say, but alas, I wrote something else for the 100th. So, my 102nd blog, I will use to celebrate this milestone of my life as I know it. I’ve often think of blogging as an addiction of sorts, it really is not....
JillUser and someone else recently posted articles about being happy; and about hiding behind a mask. I can't for the life of me remember who (Sugar?)posted the article about the masks (I'm sorry) so no link to that one. That said, those two articles got me thinking so I hope you don’t mind me tagging along on your thoughts, with just a twist. Here's a link to Jill's article: Link People go through different experiences in life. They have different feelings and react differently to...
This has been one of the most painful and public events that I can remember. Regardless of the public opinions and the way this was handled by her family (and this is not pointing fingers), I'm glad she has pass on. I'm sure it was very hard for all concerned. And even in death, her memory will still be "dragged" through the media for days, weeks, even months to come. May she rest in peace. Link
