I've heard several stories, of people being sought by the government, at work, their homes, wherever they were supposed to be, arrested and unceremoniously booted out of the United States back to the countries of their birth. Even those people who have been here for more than ten years, with no criminal records, living an honest life, most times they are married to US citizens and awaiting their turn to be accepted legally into the country. When I heard some of these stories, my thought...

Before I heard about this story, my hubby and I had a discussion about the environment and what other people are doing or were doing all in the name of making the earth better for everyone to live in. This discussion came about because of a 'green' program we were watching. I reminded him of the simple things we were doing and we discussed the benefits and the whys or why nots for going green. The one thing I said I would never do is give up toilet paper! I would never ever do that!...

I've been getting a few Emails telling me about a boycott that is planned for May 15, 2007. The plan is that no one and I mean NO ONE is supposed to buy gasoline that day. Due to the rise in the price of gasoline, we the people are being taken advantage of and prices are unnecessarily high when they shouldn't be. I must say when I received the first Email, I glanced at it and didn't really pay attention to it because I thought it was a hoax or something. Then I received it a second tim...

I heard the news about the murders that happened at the university in Virginia today and I'm so shocked and sadden by yet another person taking their anger out on other people. I can't imagine what the parents of those who have been murdered are feeling right now. It's something that I would never wish to experience. I don't know the full story of why it happened or who did it because the police is keeping this information under wraps at the moment. However, it makes me wonder what ...

In one of my recent blog articles about the Peanut Butter scare, Mason commented that the FDA allowed rat droppings in Peanut Butter and I responded that I didn't even want to think about it! Well, I was looking at the referrals that happened from that article, Link and one of them lead to several information about what the FDA do allow as acceptable if the food gets droppings and such when they are being prepared by these food manufacturers and food processors! I'm not trying to ma...

I've come to realise that the news media will report what they want, when they want. Sometimes it doesn't even matter what is going on, as long as there is a more sensationalized story out there, they will be all over it, again, and again, and again, and again! Take the death of Anna Nicole for example. I loved Anna Nicole, I really did. She was quite a character, but she was fun to watch, just to see what she would be doing. I'm not going to get into the theatrics (that might be the...

" "All we know is that we've got salmonella bacteria that we found in the environment in the facility that matched the same strain that we found in patients that the states found in jars of peanut butter," said Dr. David Acheson, the FDA's Director of the Food Safety and Security Staff in the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition. "The most likely scenario is that the peanut butter became contaminated sometime during the production, between the roasting process and putting the p...

The Port of Seattle has removed all of it's Christmas trees from all of it's port because of a Jewish Leader's protest that they are offensive. I don't get it. I'm sure the kids don't understand why either, but it's a darn shame for them to let the few spoil it for the other thousands who do enjoy Christmas trees! The Port's authorities have had the trees up and decorated for more than 25 years, now the trees are a big problem. Tsk, tsk. They should have at least waited til t...

Myrrander wrote the following article Link . I do understand where he's coming from with his views. What I felt when I responded to it though was why are we letting people who only have one thing in mind, making money, ruin it for us? Sure they do what they usually do, these retailers, because that's what they have been doing for years, and with each passing year their tactics become even more anti-Christmas. Because while Christmas is also about giving something special to the ones ...

What happened today is a little too close to home for comfort. We’re still in shock and unable to get over it. A 15 year old student was killed by another student today at my daughter’s high school. It’s hard to describe the feeling that’s been coursing through me since we found out. My hubby got a call to come right away to pick her up because someone got hurt at school. Little did we know the story, and what unfolded sends chills up and down my spine whenever I think about it. ...

I'm trying to follow the news now, but a small plane crashed into a bldg at 72nd street. So far no indication of terrorism. I hope not! Link

What the heck is going on out there in vegetable land? First the Spinach had ecoli, now the lettuces might be contiminated too? I've not eaten any Spinach recently and have been eating lettuces. I also buy the California ones too because that's the kind the big W carries! What's a person to do if you can't rely on these growers to keep your vegetables safe? I guess it's mustard greens and kales all around for a while. Here's a link to the sorry details. Link

Yep, that time of the year again. No work tomorrow, no schools tomorrow because of the tropical storm that's on our horizon. Supposed to pass over us or near enough to us to stop all activities for a day. It was a busy evening of people going about the business of making sure their supplies are updated, and they have enough to wait out the storm if necessary. I certainly hope that won't become a reality. For now, we're all home tomorrow. Except hubby whose job requires him to be o...

I sit and watch with trepidation what was unfolding in front of me on the television from the news report. A report on the British terror plots. Thank heavens they found some of those people, I hope they’re able to find all of them. Here in America they finally were able to locate some of those Egyptian students who were missing. While the reports said they were only students and not terrorists, one never knows and I do hope they will find the others. With what’s been going on betwee...

Plagiarism is rearing it’s ugly head these days, as Gideon has written about Link ; Link ; Link . As I have also written about, Link ; Link ; (and if I missed anyone else's blogs about this topic, I apologise! I've not had the chance to do my follow up reading yet of my fav bloggers because JU was a bit slow this week and acting wacky and then I had all these thoughts I wanted to get on paper before I forgot them! Whew!) as in the case of so many others that have come and gone. ...
