By now you have all heard what might have happened to Rihanna, I say "might have", because it is still not confirmed that it is her, but everyone has already put two and two together, she has canceled her appearances and went home to Barbados, plus friends of the two have come forward to say there were problems previously and even talked of Chris Brown having a 'dark side'. I heard (listening to gossip now) that it all started because she found out he was cheating on her, in confronti...

Ravi Somoiya wrote an article which I read on the NYTimes.com  " It's the Economy, Girlfriend " about women dating men who work on Wall Streets, in various Banks and/or who were some type of Power Broker.  Now these women are face with coping with their boyfriends or spouses who have had to give up some of their special, and expensive past times.  Not to mention that the women themselves are no longer able to go shopping at will or have the 'help' they need just because...

You know those stories, you've had them read to you as a child, seen the movies, read the novels when you grew up...."and they live happily ever after".  Is that an illusion, a lie, are we trying to make an illustion reality?  Shouldn't we really not give that illusion to our little impressionable ones? Hmmm....I do like the , love, love, LOVE the ideal of "happily ever after", and why not?  Why shouldn't we?  I love romance, love the feeling that being in love mak...

I got home a bit late last night.  I took the afternoon off to do some errands, namely get the registrations to our cars renewed since it's hubby's birthday, that time is back!  There I was sitting in the DMV chatting with some guy when my hubby walked in!  Nothing of it, but I was surprised to see him, he came to keep me company after he left work.  He's turning 51 this weekend, and I must say he is looking pretty darn good for his age! Anyway, he left to go home for ...

This has been the topic of discussion on many a occasion and lately I've seen it played out in scenarios on ABC's Primetime !  Today I read an article on slate.com where a woman was asking "Dear Prudence" for advice because she somehow messed up her friend's relationship with the friend's husband because she made it slip that he has a secret he's keeping from her!  This was done in the heat of the moment when she was 'bending' her friend's ear about her relationship with her selfish...

1) "What did you do to your hair?" Oh no he didn't! Especially if she spent a lot of money on her new do, don't say anything negative! And don't dare say "You look different"! 2) "They both look the same to me." When your wife, girlfriend, significant other asks your opinion, don't' say that! Actually give an opinion, no guess work, no fancy speech and especially show that you do care! 3) "Relax." Oh no, you know you asked for it! Her response might be, "Are y...

"If you don't know me by now, you'll will never, ever know me...." Some of you probably recognize those words. If you don't, they are the beginning sentence to one of the most beautiful, mournful love songs! Some men don't have a clue when their wife or significant other is pissed off at them. Mine gets that way sometimes! In fact, I think he deliberately ignores the signals just because he doesn't want a fight! It left me steaming, while he went out to hang with the guys, on a nigh...

How in the world is this not the same thing? He said that he didn't lie to his wife, he just didn't fess up and tell her the truth! And why did he do that? Because he didn't want to hurt her feelings. If you found out that your spouse or lover did this to you, wouldn't you be upset because he/she lied to you? I know I would although I will confess that how mad I would be does depend on what kind of a lie and how serious it is. Then that would dictate me pouting for one or two days...

EmperorofIceCream wrote an article about love, “What’s Love? – And who needs it anyway?”, Link . I found it to be a pretty insightful article and made a comment that got me thinking (thx for the inspiration Simon!) My comment to his article: [quote]Love is what everyone seems to need and crave. In a way it seems to validate some people's existence and the lack of it makes them so insignificant. Something I'm trying to make my daughter see because for her, she is loved, finally by...

I dug deep to find (last year's posting, which I believe was also from the year before) that prose we did about our moms. Would you like to do that again - create another joint writing? Feel free to drop a line or two about your moms, any special memory, experiences, thoughts.... I'll put it together when you're done!

A Re-post - my favorite Dedicated to all the Moms of JU and especially to our own Moms! [and to those who have passed on] *************************************************************************************** There's nothing like a mother's love There's Nothing Like a Mother's Love that keeps you safe and warm She gives her love selflessly Her words, sometimes a chide yet often tender She is the woman who gave me life and put her life aside for years ...

I dreamt she was an angel An arch angel Like a warrior princess Standing guard, doing battle on our behalf She was wielding her sword like a true warrior As she was in life There she stood, tall, fierce But oh so beautiful Her face so angelic, so young Her wings so large, it seemed too big For her small frame And yet it was such a part of her It made her look intimidating But I was not afraid And she talked to me In a language I didn’t know ...

Sometimes I feel like I’m at odds with my oldest child. My first born and still the love of my life! I think she forgets that sometimes and I have to remind her. She somehow gets lost in the shuffle of the care for her younger siblings and I know that isn’t easy for her. They happen to be more demanding than she was. I’m trying to put myself in her place when I was her age when it comes to her attitude about some things. She’s not a bad kid; she’s sometimes misunderstood by me. I’m ...

How many of you are sleeping in separate bedrooms? Seriously, I’m just curious. I have been hearing about this a lot lately, on the news, on interior design shows; in the magazines….it’s the latest trend. Even my co-worker told me that she and her husband don’t really sleep together all night. He snores too much so she sleeps in the guest room in order to get some sleep. I guess in a case like hers, I can understand the reasoning behind it, although my hubby snores down the roof an...

It's that time of year again when you either get lucky because you finally popped the question and your girlfriend said yes, planned a lavish night for your significant other and she will show you how much she really appreciate you, or you made a fool out of yourself one more time and it's just another day for you! Hopefully none of you will experience the latter! The big day is coming, anyone doing the countdown? In two days it will be St. Valentine's Day - February 14th! I think alo...
