I was just reading an article about Pierce Brosnan, the current, er make that the most recent actor to play James Bond. He's been released from the role just as all the other actors before him...Roger Moore, Sean Connery, and that other guy.....Timothy Dalton...sorry he didn't even last that long as a Bond. I know there was one other before Roger Moore...George Lazenby, but Roger Moore is where my memories of James Bond started! I've also been recently watching James Bond re-runs on Chan...

Picture the following scenario: You’re on a date (Especially for us married folks) Your car is valet parked You enter the building You dropped off your kids in play room that’s supervised by the staff. You go to the bar and order two glasses of your favorite wine You might order some pizza or popcorn shrimp or something just as tasty from the menu in order to have a light meal You sit down in a very comfortable chair and finally get a chance to sit and take in the bea...

I bumped into this website recently, which was so coincidental too since I’m learning to “think” more freely. Apparently it’s a new type of fitness that is becoming popular with a lot of folks. It’s called Mental Yoga ! You do things to exercise the brain. They featured an article written by Phyllis DeBlanche of the San Diego Magazine about the practice of mental yoga. It’s all about the way you think! I’ve already come to this deduction by myself but it was great reading the...

Recently I’ve been concentrating on why I worry so much. Why I don’t do what I know will make me feel a whole lot better and stop putting stress on myself? Yep, that bag of stress that I constantly pick up and put on my shoulder, like a toilet waiting for a dump load. I walk around with it, making myself miserable and those closest to me sometimes feel the brunt of this when I’m not at my best. It’s like I’m two personalities. One that shows the happy face, take it all on, handle it on...

I received some conservation tips from terpfan in a response to my "A Gassy Issue" blog (the first one). I happened to be browsing the About.com Website and found the following tips as well and thought they might be helpful. 1.Don't drive a gas guzzler. Do you really need that SUV? Six cylinders instead of four? How about that big pickup truck? 2.Keep your car properly maintained and tuned. A poorly tuned car can use more than 25% more gas. 3.Use steel-belted radial tires. They ...

Be warned that this may have you running for fresh air…… Letting one out or go as is the familiar term, can empty a room faster than anything else, except for the real thing of course – an actual bomb! Or make you the most unpopular person around! Wanna get rid of someone you don’t like hanging around you…just let it rip! It’s enough to send even a skunk running for cover!LOL! Of all the different variety there is though, the silent but deadly one is the fiercest! Being true to it...

ModerateMan did a blog recently about the cost of gas in everyone’s area. I didn’t get the chance to respond to it. It’s $2.37 in my neighborhood. What got me thinking was a news report (on Channel 7-ABC) last night about gas prices and a story about some truckers who had a strike in Miami. They went on strike to protest the high cost of gas and what it’s doing to them as they try to earn a living. It’s wreaking havoc because now to fill their tank costs $500 - $600 each time. That’...

What do you think of this statement? “Humans are good only because we are afraid of the consequences of being bad”. My daughter asked me this last night. She said her class had this discussion yesterday. No, it wasn’t philosophy either, it was an English class. We discussed this statement together last night and I kept going back to the same thing. That if we (humans) weren’t good (the majority of us) we would not be a humane society. We would not have rules and regulations th...

Today is the first year anniversary of my mom's death. The days leading up to this have been tumultuous for me to say the least. I can now finally watch a death & burial scene on the television without bawling my eyes out!LOL! I've been up and down and up again. Through all those emotions I've learned to laugh and remember with fondness what she gave to us her children, her love for life and her caring for others. She gave us "some of the best days of our lives" (quote from Bryan ...

I was reading an article written by Susan Reimer a journalist who writes for the Baltimore Sun sometime ago. She wrote about taking a trip one day, being at the airport and wondered why travelers dressed so casually. They looked like they were doing their chores at home and then decided to go to the airport and take the plane. Doesn’t anyone take pride in how they look anymore she asks. I have to agree with her. I see the same problem around me here in Florida and it sometimes makes ...

Oh boy, I thought I was up to date and knowledgeable about what goes on in parent land. I guess I must be sleeping; perhaps I’m imbibing too many cappuccinos lately. Ahem…let me put my mug down. So now I’ve heard that parents are outsourcing the care of there children to other people. Yep, just like an employer will outsource a job, parents can and do outsource taking care of Ben and Mary or little Johnetta to somebody else. If Ben wants to learn to ride his bike, it’s not mom or dad...

My kids are back in school. My son started Middle school; my daughter is now a high school junior. Last Thursday it was orientation for my son. It was pretty busy at his new school. Throughout the entire summer he kept asking me if he had grown an inch or more yet. I kept replying nope, or I would tell him maybe he did because he looks a little taller to me. He loved that because it made him feel good. I can’t lie to him now. Then he would make the following comment and questi...

The UK’s Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has announced new rules for foreigners in his country. In short, foreigners who live in the UK and belong to any extremist groups, who condone or sponsor violence against the country and its’ people, even breathe hatred, will be deported! They’re also going to keep a list of websites, book shops, and places that would incite violence in the country and do something about them. The most important thing (IMOO) he said as reported in this article (whic...
